I believe what you are asking for varies from county to county and municipality to municipality. You should be able to find your information on the web by accessing the web site of your county/municipality. From there you would have to select the link for zoning.

Typically anything zoned residential is not supposed to have livestock. Anyone can have up to 1 of any kind of animal as that can be declared as a pet.

This is how the zone in Gwinnett County, Ga.

http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/static..._districts.pdf
Livestock Regulations in Residential Zoning Districts (Refer to Section 1301.7 of the Zoning Resolution)
(September 2009)
Livestock & Pets:
The raising and keeping of livestock is not allowed in most residential zoning districts in Gwinnett
County.
The Zoning Resolution defines livestock to include: cattle, goats, sheep, swine, chickens, ducks and geese.
However, this definition does not include purebred Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, domestic cats, domestic dogs, or other household pets normally kept indoors.
Exceptions are as follows:
● Property zoned RA-200 (Residential-Agricultural)
● Property at least 3 acres or greater in size
● Animal quarters must be located at least 100 feet from all property lines

Note: RA200 is 3 Acres or more.

That's all changed with the backyard chicken revolution. Many cities and counties are allowing them now, as they should.

Livestock are generally not allowed in any urban residential zoning category. Rural residential is a separate class. However, there are always exceptions, variances and special circumstances...there is a case going on right now in Volusia County involving a little autistic boy's need for chickens.

My mom's new pullet Buffs in the coop I built her for Mom's day.
Took 1 night for a big fat cayote to attempt a break in. Time to break out the Crossbow and Q beam.
