In my opinion, it seems like the Midwest and South #1 seeds are locks for the Big Ten Winner and Kansas. So that leaves the East or the WEST for Florida getting a one seed. The one thing that scares me about being #1 out West is that we prob will have Arizona in our bracket. No I'm not scared to face them again, but odds are they are going to have majority of the crowd if that happens. And if Florida gets the #1 in the East bracket, it seems like there is a good chance the Big East winner would be the 2 there, which could mean another game against Louisville.

So to my fellow Gator fans, do we want the #1 seed in the East, or out West?

stop worrying about things so far in advance. the tournament can't be scripted out that easily. i remember during our first title run, i wanted no part of villanova, then we crushed them.

None of the Regional sites are good for the Gators. Wherever they go it is likely that if they make the Regional Finals they will face a mostly hostile crowd. And they are so far away from Florida that it doesn't matter (2 hours on a plane versus 4 hours is nothing).

The FF site is MONEY, though. An easy drive for most Gator fans.

The issue maybe is not time on a plane as much as time zones. I seem to remember reading something about teams traveling over several time zones doing worse on average.

Easy. You want whichever region has easier teams in it.

Just going off memory, it seems to me that the West has been the easiest more often than the East. Many more good teams out east who get "preferential placement' in not getting sent out west.

You guys were in the West last year with the 1 and 2 seeds being Michigan St and Mizzou. Would you have rather been out east with Syracuse and Ohio St? What about the south (best location proximity wise) with Duke and Kentucky? The midwest had UNC and Kansas.

Just using last year as an example, but I think most of the time you'd pick opponents before you'd care about location. At least I would.

It's all about the matchups. Even though we had a low seed, like you said, we got a great draw and then benefited from Norfolk State. Although, I think we would have beaten last year's Mizzou team in any event.

if we are a top seed, the pod system will place us in the same place irrespective of region for the first weekend.

Of course, I would prefer the Gators to play in the east rather than west, since it will be easier and less expensive for our fans to travel there

there are more gators in the east - gator clubs in most metropolitan areas, so i'd prefer the east. plus the time zones issues/travel for the team.

the pods and region sites are very friendly at all this year for floridians. lexington as a pod? or washington d.c. the closet regional? Austin could be fun as a pod, / texas regional too.

It would help explain the Arizona collapse and the Kansas State disaster.

And yes, it is far too early to be concerned with anything like this. The conference schedule is less than half over and the conference tournaments are yet to be played.

Remember that there are no longer East, West, Midwest and South regionals like there used to be. There are four cities that host regional finals, and while they are spread out around the country, they don't use the regional names any longer. More importantly, where a team gets placed has more to do with the S-curve than it does with where it is located.

Long story short, we are equally likely to face Louisville whether we stay east or go out west.

Arizona was not a collapse. It was a couple of panic attacks at the end of each half.

Time zones and travel do concern me in the tournament but that particular game against Arizona was a choke job. I believe even the analysts and sportswriters across the country came away thinking Florida played great for 38 minutes and clearly played better.

I didn't see the KSU game.

They did go back to naming the Regionals again but placement is not necessarily related to the regional site.
