Smile USCe Game Box Score MVG: Kenny Boynton

Kenny Boynton starred as Freddy Krueger in South Carolina's nightmare at Gainesville during a 75-36 loss to the Florida Gators. Boynton scored 15 points along with 3 boards, 7 assists, 4 steals and no turnovers to rack up 103 value credits. Freshman Michael Frazier II came off the bench to score 12 points, pull down 7 rebounds with no turnovers to earn 64 value credits. Patric Young nosed out several Gators for third place, ringing up 53 value credits on the strength of 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

The Gator's suffocating defense harrassed the Gamecocks into numerous turnovers and poor shots from the beginning of the game to the final minutes. Only when Gator freshmen entered the game did they get any open looks and easy points. Meanwhile the Gators built up a 46-point lead while shooting 53% from the field including 57% from 3-point land during their total domination of South Carolina. Michael Rosario alone outscored USCe 12-10 in the first half and the Gamecock's 36 point game total was their lowest on record since entering the SEC in 1992.

The next Gator bait coming to the O'Dome are the Ole Miss Rebels led by SEC bad boy and league scoring leader Marshall Henderson. Gator fans are looking forward to the meeting with perhaps the best team in the SEC West and the individual matchup between Henderson and the Gator's version of the Honey Mohawk Badger, Scottie Wilbekin.

KB looked really good out there tonight. 50 of our points came from the guard position on 18-33 shooting.

I don't know how Pat Young will do in the NBA, but every game there's one moment where it's like...that dude must be straight up terrifying to play against.

This game: where he blocked the ball so hard against the backboard it cleared right out to end with the Rosario dunk.

Yeah that's pretty good to combine a blocked shot with an outlet pass

Thanks for the stats GatorJason. And, nice write-up also! We have a couple of Honey Badger equivalents

They only gave Wilbekin 2 turnovers? He had 2 in like the first minute of the game. And, there was at least one more later in the 1st half which the tv announcers actually commented on as being "at least" his third.

That's a pretty nice line for KB, especially the 7 assists, 4 steals and no turnovers. Too bad the game wasnt on tv in my area.

Curious if that also counted as an assist for Young?

All,

I have Verizon FIOS in Virginia. On my laptop I can go to Verizon TV site which includes network channels like ESPN. On the ESPN channel they have ESPN-3 live which includes several NCAA baskeball games on at the same time. The Gator games are almost always broadcast. The cool thing is that I can HDMI link my laptop to the bigscreen TV. The quality varies from HD to low resolution but I don't complain since it's no additional charge for the service. Very cool.
