This is exactly what I suggested on post #762. It remains to be seen whether Te'o is gay or not, but it was very clear to me that Tuiasosopo had way too much time invested in this for it just to be a prank. I knew he HAD to have very deep feeling or be in love with Te'o.

I still find it VERY hard to believe Te'o was duped for 2 years. I'm just having a hard time buying that with his trips to Hawaii, that he never forced a meeting, Skyped or went to see her or at least did a little research to get more information. And it's very possible that Tuiasosopo is taking the fall just to do damage control on Te'os reputation.

I agree, the voices on the messages do sound female ... but there are some guys that sound feminine naturally, and others that have vocal skills to develop good impersonations. I wonder if Dr. Phil had him do the female voice live...

But sources close to Ronaiah tell TMZ ... he was always afraid to explore his sexuality fearing scorn and ridicule from the Samoan community, his church community and the football community. At an early age, we're told Ronaiah created a private world for himself, that was not rooted in reality.

Besides playing high school football, Ronaiah's family is a VERY football-centric group -- with several members having played in the NFL.

Instead, we're told Ronaiah created a female character, like Lennay, and interact with men through her ... because instead of feeling guilt about his sexuality, he could chalk it all up to make-believe.

Ronaiah is now seeing a therapist -- not Dr. Phil -- and we're told he's finally dealing with the issues he's been avoiding for most of his adult life."

I think it is one of two things: Either Tuiasosopo is gay, crushed on Manti, and had this fantasy relationship going or the two of them had some secret thing and it fed this guy that he and Manti would 'work out' in the end and now Manti is having to play dumb to save him from being the NFL's first openly gay ambassador. At this point, I don't know I trust anyone further than they could be thrown, but I can tell you that this info would be devastating to Manti's career in the NFL and there would be every reason to lie and protect him and his safety from the intolerance of a testosterone fueled NFL lockerroom. I think there is very much a reason, no matter what the truth is, to use all of this as a cover story and just leave it looking like he's dumb and not gay. Just my opinion.

You answered your own question. Hes not that dumb. If he were as innocent and naive as be is trying portray himself as he wouldnt have contrived detailed stories about personal meetings with Lennay during interviews. He made up details because he wanted to make the whole story sound credible. Why would a man with the options he had be worried about people believing he had a girlfriend? He isnt that dumb. No way.
