theologator, what are you talking about? You need to check your facts. Brantley is know where on the list of top Gator QB's in production or any other category. Unless there's a category for throwing pass's into the 4th row of the stands. 2011 was a wasted year for Driskel. Muschamp made an tactical error in not playing Driskel instead of Brantley. Yes Jeff would've made mistakes, but he would've had the experience, and been a year ahead of himself. Imagine if Jeff would've had the experience under his belt. We sucked on offense, and Brantley was one of the main reasons. He was really bad, and had no business on a D1 program.
Go look at the record books. Deonte Thompson was stuck on a bad team without a good QB. And despite that, he was able to make an NFL roster, and might own an Super Bowl Championship ring. He led the Gators in receptions his senior year. His talent and hard work helped make him an NFL player. What's the great John Brantley doing now a days?

My bad - Brantley is 11th with 4,750 career yards, behind Spurrier. I don't think 11th qualifies as nowhere or "know where" as you put it.

He would have easily passed Spurrier if Deonte hadn't dropped 4-5 long TD bombs.

The 2010-2011 teams had massive problems, one of which was Brantley being a terrible fit then injured both years.

But Deonte couldn't get open and dropped balls regularly. I'm glad he is getting a shot in the NFL. He has the size and speed to play, but he never showed it at UF. I guarantee you he's much farther down the WR list than 11th. Good kid.

Brantley's a good kid too. No need to continue bashing and blaming him when the whole mess was swirling as if flushed.

I wish Driskel had stayed healthy and gained some more experience in 2011.

If that's true, or if 11th is the real number, either way all it proves is how misleading raw statistics can be.

Or how facts won't always influence opinion, counselor. But yours has good basis and company. I see him as having been a good passer with limited read/react skills, good character. He didn't cause the collapse but wasn't good enough as a player or leader to fix the mess.

Brantley will always be a good argument starter and thread buster. But the yardage is correct.

Your facts are skewed. Of course all the guys playing in the modern era will have biggers stats than before the forward pass was more than just a fad. Taking that into account, being 8th on the list is not so impressive. About 4500 yards passing won't influence any opinions, not positively, anyway.

Ravens are built on Canes and Noles. Can't root for that.

Is there a more unlikely Gator to win a Super Bowl ring than DT?

Thompson joins just three other former Gators with SEC, NC and Super Bowl rings: Jeff Mitchell, Dallas Baker and Justin Trattou.
