Hyperbole to make a point (using the media hype). Did FSU have a great team? No. A good defense? I think so, though they folded in the 4th quarter.

It was still an extremely hostile environment in which Driskel played extremely well. I was pointing out that as a rebuttal to the assertion he played like a "deer in the headlights". It simply wasn't true in the 4 road games or vs. LSU. It was vs. UGA and, to some extent, against SC though the defense and special teams got that one in hand.

I believe Driskel is going to have a good year next year.

-better o-line play
-better receiver play
-not much, if any drop off from the running backs
-a year of experience under his belt
-the ability to check down (not given to the QBs last year)

The only thing that worries me about the FSU game is that the Noles have basically the same case we do when we make excuses for the loss to the Dawgs-- "we only beat them because they turned it over 5 times and even then they led going into the 4th".

That isn't what I inferred. What I was saying is that it is hard for the offense to improve if key players can't even line up correctly for the called play. Just don't lay lack of improvement at JD's feet.

As far as that play goes - if Jordan Reed hadn't lined up on the wrong side of the field, then maybe the defender would not have been in position to make a play on the ball if Reed had to be covered as well. We'll never know unless the NCAA starts giving Mulligans for the first play of the game..
