I like him. I used to call his show fairly regularly about ten years ago ("Hey Steve, bamascott here."). He gets a little wound up sometimes, but his show is pretty good. Pretty objective guy for the most part.

I like Larry's show, too. I called him the first time when he had ther old Dial-a-Score show to get the Bama scores. Good times.

Now I feel bad for posting this. Steve isn't as bad as I'm making him out to be. Just seems like he's a robot on air. And yes, his jets crap gets old. Then again, so does "well, what are you gonna do"? Lol I don't know, Larry just seems much more friendly, and informative, at the same time.

After a little more thought,

Steve is a good addition, OVERALL. (Game day broadcast, post game, baseball etc.) That slipped my mind. I was really just focusing on his daytime broadcast.

My apologies, Steve! Don't quit your daytime...

The show after the 2010 Mississippi State game was interesting. Even Steve was so disgusted he wasn't trying to do much redirection with the callers, as I recall.

When he does talk sports on a national level, I like the attention Russell gives to MLB. In season, he gives it the priority it deserves. Off season, you can actually get a few callers talking about the hot stove stuff.

russell and vettel--local guys who have to suck up to the university and the coaches to keep in good. their on-air stuff is average, nothing special.

I've usually enjoyed listening to his post game shows when I've tuned in. I might be a bit biased since I've been friends with his son since childhood however. A lot of the callers to his show are complete morons, I imagine it's tough to deal with at times and I don't blame him for any surliness to stupid calls.

I haven't listened to either much lately. But here's what I remember best about each: Steve gets the best interviews in terms of active coaches and prominent figures throughout the sports world. Larry seems to do better with getting interviews with former GATORS. In terms of interactions with the callers, I enjoy Jeff and Adam the best (mid-day tailgate)...except when it's time for call-in picks: "uhhh...gimme the Ravens, GATORS by 26, and what was the other game?" (but that's the case for any of the shows). Steve lost me as a regular listener when they mysteriously abandoned the lunch time spot and I had to find a replacement.

My favorite time to listen to Steve Russell's post-game show is after a loss, the calls are priceless. It's the first step in the healing process to return to normal life.

Getting used to the Alabama fan in the morning, but he's limited outside of football talk.

The way Vettell used to rant about the bats in college baseball has always colored my personal opinion of him, but I can acknowledge that he's a professional broadcaster who I could see working outside of the local area.

Steve Russell is a creepy, arrogant d-bag whose knowledge of sports isn't nearly as vast as he thinks it is, and who more importantly just fails basic human interaction.

I like both of these guys. Living out of the area, I try to log in and listen online to the post game. I love the call in. Some of the calls are freakin hilarious!
