He's averaging 19.2 ppg but looking at his stat line tells more of the story. Overall shooting percentage is 38.8% while 3 point percentage is 35.7%. Contrast that with KB who is averaging 13.6 ppg with an overall shooting percentage of 42.4% and a 3 point percentage of 35.6%.
Here's the biggie though. Henderson gets his 19.2 ppg on 106 for 273 shot attempts while KB gets his on 78 out of 184 shot attempts. In other words Henderson, as has been noted, is a volume shooter. His overall shooting percentage is less than Kenny's and he has taken over 90 more shots.
Is he a good shooter? I would say yes, but he is no better than SW, KB, MR, MF II or EM and everyone of those listed players shoots a higher percentage than he does.

Having watched him play a few times now, I can definitely say the guy is a helluva shooter. One thing that isn't factored in to those percentages is the type of shots Henderson takes. He takes a ton of contested shots. Our offense is a lot more disciplined and diverse. We take open shots. We are a better team and team offense. Our percentages are better perhaps because of that.

If he takes a ton of contested shots then I doubt he would fit well into our offense. To be honest I don't see how that makes him a good player in any way unless his percentage of made shots was really high and it isn't. I do see what you are saying though about his percentages.

Good analysis. I would expect his shots in the O-Dome next Saturday to be more contested than ever. He'll probably be throwing up some prayers. If Ole Miss can handle Kentucky on Tuesday night, we'll have two 7-0 teams battling it out for the top spot. The Rowdy Reptiles will be going nuts for two hours.

If we force bad shot attempts he won't shoot a high percentage. We'll be fine.

Not just last night, but they have struggled this past week to win their last two games over two very average teams in Tennessee and Auburn. Maybe even below average!

I normally like it when a team as traditionally bad as Ole Miss (and historically they are the worst in the SEC) gets it together and makes some noise but this punk makes it impossible to cheer for them. You guys will show them that their record is the product of a weak SEC and I look forward to watching it...also if a team ever screamed one and done in the big dance it is these clowns who celebrate every win like they just won a championship.

The key to this game is to keep Buckner and Holloway off the boards. If that happens, Henderson's volume shooting leads to all kinds of problems...for them.

Huge key. Those guys are tough. But I think we will be able to turn them over with our press too.

I do agree if they are a 5 against a decent 12, that will scream upset watch. And if they are lower than a 5, it will be more so.

The problem is those are going to be long rebounds. They average over 20 threes attempted per game and they only shoot 32% (by comparison, we shoot at roughly the same rate, but make over 38%), and they do a lot of it off ball screen action with a big twenty feet from the basket. What that tells me is our guards need to stay focused after the shot goes up, get a body on someone, and go after those boards in the 12-15 foot range. It will slow down our transition game a bit, but will reduce extra shots for them.

Good point. Thankfully, we know Boynton has gotten a lot better on the boards. Frazier has done a stellar job in that department as well.

Had to post this here:
@NotJerryTipton: Ole Miss' Marshall Henderson scores a lot. That said, his "shot selection" leaves a lot to be desired. http://t.co/0AVibrke

Yikes. Make that into a big head for the game.
