ESPN now factors in Transfers, preps, and JUCO's along with HS recruits. The other major recruiting services don't factor in transfers.
All the recruiting services still give a school repeat credit for a recruit who signed and ten went prep or juco then re-signed with the school. I happen to beleive that is bogus BS
ESPN isn't really 'pro' UF in recruiting rankings. ESPN does however rate state of Fl recruits a bit higher than other recruiting services(count Fla recruits rated 4*/5* by ESPN compared to number of 4*/5* of Fla recruits by Rivals, Scout, etc).
The bias of various recruiting sites in regard to favoring some schools compared to other schools I believe boils down to 2 factors.
1. $$$$$. Schols that have large number or subscibers to the recruiting service tend to get more favorable rankings for its signees/commits than competitor schools whose fanbases are not as numerous in subscribing to the recruiting service. there was massive drop in pro UF bias at both Rivals and Scout when Gators subscribing to those services decreased.
2. Bias of individual gurus at the recruiting service. the gurus who evaluate and rate the recruits----ie--the Dorothy Syndrome. A year or two ago a Rivals guru left Rivals and wrote up about how Rivals skews ratings to favor Bama and a few other schools(most likely---USCw, Oh St, FSU). There is the infamous incident of Rivals changing a recruits star rating AFTER he signed with a school(Joslin Shaw who was 2* on morning of NSD, signed with FSU, and the next day had been bumped up to 3* without any commentary about why he was increased in rating. Myself and some others raised hell. And a week or so later some Rivals mod posted a topic thread saying it was because the guru turned in his eval late. My guess the guru was Dorothy. A year later Rivals adopted a policy of no changes to ratings after final ratings posted a week or two after last all star game is played. For the first few years the final rankings came out about a week after the last all star game. But in the last few years they are shifting their final rankings closer and closer to NSD. So don't be surprised if there is some pencil whipping with final ratings). The Rivals formula lends itself to creative use if a guru wants to skew things for or against schools.

Yeah, even if 'Bama finishes #1, I won't consider that to be a legit ranking. These sites failing to add Garcia and Moore is just unacceptable behavior.

I'm excited for both Moore and Garcia, but just to play devil's advocate... how come people keep throwing out they're proven at the d1 level, yet they played in the big ten and acc, conferences we relentlessly mock for their crap level of play.

I keep throwing that out there, but I don't mock the ACC and (the northern version of the) Big 12. I just don't think the overrall quality of football is as good in those two conferences as it is down south, in the SEC.
And it's not like good players don't come from those two conferences. There were scouts who felt Garcia has pro potential when he left Maryland, and we certainly weren't the only school after him. Georgia really wanted him too. Moore was highly-recruited after he left Nebraska as well. I mean, they appear to be good prospects.

It would not surprise me at all if Bama Class is consenus number one. I am sure they will finish very strong, and it's very possible we finish 2nd behind them, but the difference between who is number 1 and who is number 5 let's say, is very subjective

That's not true. The number one class guarantees a national championship. I don't know what sites you've been on, or who you're gettin' your info from, but it'll bury us if we don't finish number one.

If we're top 5, we're doing just fine.

We will have a great class. Alabama's class will have more 5 stars than anyone else in the nation. Hince, #1 class. The alum's of alabama will make sure they get the 5 stars because they live for football. With the NCAA choking on a sure kill at Miami's program, how in the hell could they ever get Alabama, they don't have anyone who could go to Ala and come out alive, of course its a third world country. As the world turns in recruiting. The NCAA and enforcement are not a viable brand. Div. 1 football needs a new Assoc. to deliver common sense to recruiting irregularities. Where are our Univ. Presidents and Athletic Directors talking to the Media on the need for change? Our people at Florida need to take the lead, but it seems they are lapping it up with large salaries and benefits. The parallels to Congress and balancing the budget seem to be where we are at with the NCAA. Large salaries, meeting at resorts, flying to Hawaii at the taxpayers expense, lots of posh dinners, flying first class or private jet and exspousing they are in it for the student athlete. both NCAA and the Congress, we need common sense people in these positions, less Lawyers who like to tell us why and how we must live our lives. When we say of the people for the people, I don't think they thought only lawyers could have any sense at all. It is time for change! Penn State thought to look past it and just lap it up anyway they want. Morals and the law. Money will make it right.
Steve Spurrier and Urban exits both had common elements, they knew Jeremy and Bernie wouldn't speak out on recruiting rules and change and they had to line up against teams that spit in the face of the rules. Both ran as fast as they could. Spurdog landing at SC was more about Golf than Football. LOL!

Alabama and NASA.... (Huntsville)
How do those two words coexist in the same sentence???
Even if my team was winning National Championships three outta four years, I STILL would not live in Alabama!
All of my life, I have traveled through that state. From the time I was two years old, till the present day... I have been from Orange Beach to the northern edge of that place... and many places in between... and nope... no way.
I have very good friends who moved from Atlanta to live in Dothan. The wife, literally, cannot stand living there.
I can see why the only thing they live for is... Alabammy football.
And when that does not work out... their whole world get enveloped into one big dark cloud....
... because that is all they got.

Got relatives who live close to Dothan in a little town named Abbeville (also the home town of "Yella Fella" Jimmy Vane, who my aunts knows). That place is about as backwoods, deep south as you can get.
Would never want to live there.

No, you're right, but it does bring people and business to this forum.
