I don't know if it's still an effective clause in his contract, but in the mid-2000s (shortly after he won the NC and is rumored to have considered the Michigan job), Miles had a provision in his contract that there could not be a higher paid SEC football coach. This escalator clause assured him a raise anytime his SEC brethren did well. Crazy for LSU to have done that.

Fair point Zook only lost once to UGA. Really though Boom clearly isn't on the Spurrier/Meyer level and frankly Zook is the only other guy we have in terms of modern coaches to judge him against- if I put him up against the two great gator coaches it just makes Boom look really, really bad.

I think if boom can win a national championship or 2 then we can compare him to Meyer or Spurrier. I think he will.

Look, you're not pulling one over on anybody by posting here. Your trollery is too obvious.
That being said, I feel like I should let you believe you're fooling us because it's the only thing you have going -- or think you have going -- in your life. Wow, that's extremely depressing when I think about it.

I don't know if Miles is stupid or smart. He's an enigma. he pulls off crazy plays and beats us in the Swamp, then he can't manage the clock and lets games get away from him he should've won. Now he manages to get a half a million more $$'s out of LSU for a mediocre season and a beat down in the Peach Bowl. Oh well, more power to him.

COACH MUSCHAMP has not won anything significant yet. Once he wins a couple of SECC's, his contract will be revised.

It will and should be revised after one. Saban has only won 2... After 7 years. Same for Les Miles. Not comparing him to them, just shows how hard that is to accomplish and that winning just 1 should be rewarded.

If my math is correct, that's a 14.6% raise. Wow.

At $2.8m a year, is Muschamp now slightly underpaid? Just thinking out loud...

Don't know how you can say that. Muschamp has only been here two years. No titles MNC or SEC. 1st year very mediocre; 2nd year quite good.
Realize we don't want our HC to de-commit; but I would at least like to see another great year next year with at least an SEC east crown before jumping hoops. The contract extension shows we care (Zook never got one); I have no problem with making pay raise retroactive.

I agree that one more year of similar results (10+ wins) would be the right time for a raise.

Foley should get off the wallet now for at least 3.5 or 4.0, he did raise the bar from 7 wins to 11 and one game from the NC, good luck Champ, keep up the good luck , I only want the offense to match the defense and I will stop bitching, Go Gators.

You don't know how I can openly state that I'm asking a hypothetical question for discussion (where several views might be prevalent) on an internet message board?

Steve Spurrier South Carolina $3.59 million

I wonder what he would've been earning these days if he hadn't gone to the Redskins?
Would his old 90's offense have won some more NCs at UF?

4 million, um for what- win something and we can talk, you don't get Saban or Meyer money without winning something- a division at the very least- paying for almost and BCS blowouts is why Notre Dame is still cutting Weis checks- I'd be okay with a raise if Foley also gets a super low buyout- say 4 million a year but with an option to terminate for 500k at any time.

$4million for losing to UL. What a joke.

Miles seems to be an entertaining coach, but doesn't project the proficiency of a Saban or even Muschamp with game time decisions and clock management. He is a hip shooter extraordinaire and is too risky at times which has become predictable.
He has access to the majority of Louisiana's talent base and only has to reload every year. He also seems to enjoy maintaining the program and not just building it toward a NC level and then moving on.
He will probably be there as long as he wants.
