I like Steve. Love listening to the Extra Point show after the football games.

Lived in Denton, TX for three years during their Superbowl heyday (93-96) and listened to Cooperstein a good bit. He's knowledgeable, but I found him pretty annoying. Some of the annoyance, however, was due to the feverishly idiotic Cowboy obsession out there.
Having lived in G'ville from 05-12, I listened to both Russell and Vettel a good bit. I've never cared for Vettel because he tries too hard to be cool and funny and it seems disingenuous. Russell can come off as a bit surly, but I prefer his show over that of LV.

if they're talking gator sports, i like 'em. and if it's about any and all the gator sports, i like 'em even more.
so i give SR points for his baseball work, etc. speaking of which, i heard tim casey on the local am radio there on sunday morning.
i don't hear gville radio all that much anymore - just on game days/weekends, but i prefer vettel's style. but i also thought SR was almost perfect for post game football, you almost had to be brusque at times depending on the game outcome. either to pary w/ the the callers and/or just tell it like it is w/ the game (no sugar coating).

Like listening online to Russell's show after games, but it is not because of him. It is because of the callers. I appreciate him doing the show so we can have a community experience after the game. What I hate is how arrogant, self-righteous and condenscending he is. He argues about everything. he denies the obvious and never sees the elephant in the room if it is the slightest big negative toward the game. Sometimes I wonder if he even watched the game. Even worse, his J-E-T-S mantra is source for consternation because a lot of us have come to absolutely hate the Jets.

I love Steve Russell. His post game show is always great, because he is never overly excited when we win, and never overly depressed when we lose. It's always funny when a caller comes in from either side of the spectrum because it seems like he hates that.

do not think larry gets enough credit, he basically built the sports talk show bussiness in gainrsville, remember, his original sports scene show in the early 90s was once day a week for i thinj 30 minutes, now look what has evolvrd. as for steve, he can be a bit oppinionated at times, but are not we all, besides. i always loved his music shows, used to listen to rock reflections in the late 70s while at uf.

Off topic.
I am starting to doubt that Jaggator is human, but is rather a form of Google A.I. that has a penchant for barely clothed women.

Can not stand LV. Tries to be cute and thinks he is funny, always laughing at his own humor. Not funny whatsoever IMO. I'd take SR over him ANY day. But.....what are ya gonna do? (an irritating LV line)

Steve was in a history class of mine at UF, way back when. I recall that he was quite vocal in class. I can't recall if he was interviewing the professor.

I learn something each time I'm able to listen to Steve or Larry. Living in Jacksonville, we had some really good sports talk for a number of years. It's devolved terribly into "listen" radio for those up to about 35, so we older get tired quickly of the slap and tickle. I listen to XM College and ESPN to hear interviews and learn something. When I'm driving at lunchtime and can pick up 850, I learn something from Steve's interviews, not who is the hottie that was at the game. Good job Steve and Larry.

Jax sports radio after SFR is horrible. Frangie and Ballou are okay but I've still yet to find one person who listens to Mike Dempsey.

Local show rankings:
#1 Adam and Jeff Mid Day Tailgate (getting sick of Adam though)
#2 LV Show
#3 Sportscene with SR
#4 JC and Coach
#5 Cheap Seats
I do love the post game show with SR. Always entertaining

I enjoy his show, think he's entertaining and informative. At least with a local flavor both Larry and Steve are way more interesting than most radio sports shows. I can't bear to listen to the arrogance and condescending manner of hosts like Tim Brando.

Both are very good doing the Gator Baseball games. Other than that I can not stand to listen to Russell. I listen to the point after show but I don't like the wat Russell handles the callers.

Any local sports coverage is a good thing. There is no drive time local morning show on WRUF now that ESPN has taken it over, and that's the only real time I have to listen to the radio. I'm much more interested in Gator basketball and baseball than all of the NBA and offseason NFL and MLB talk you get on national shows this time of year.

Nope. Mines the real deal.
...and I like Steve. He does a fine job. Kinda funny that someone would start a thread just to rip a Gator.
