Two former UF players named to All-Star Teams
Former UF player and Golden State Warriors forward David Lee was named to the West All-Star team today as a reserve. It's his second All-Star selection.
Joakim Noah was also selected to the East reserves. It's his first time as an All-Star.
Congrats to David and Joakim!!

Parsons should make the Rookie - Sophomore game along w/ Beal. Those team haven't been announced yet.

Noah and Lee are going head-to-head tonight. That should be interesting.

and Bonner should make the 3 point contest, although I think his minutes per game might hold him back

Noah completely deserves it. While Deng has really picked up his scoring in the absence of Rose (in addition to his always solid defense), Noah has been the key for that team, especially with the loss of Asik. He leads them in rebounds, blocks, and steals, is second in assists (4 per), and is logging career highs in minutes, points, shot attempts, free throws, offensive boards, blocks, steals, and assists. Great year for him.

Great duel between the two tonight. David scored 23 points and pulled down six rebounds. Joakin scored 14 points, but devoured the glass with 16 boards. He also had four assists, three blocks and one steal in the home win over the Warriors.

Guys like Noah, Chandler, Ibaka, the Clips' Jordan, Asik to a lesser degree, the Brow, et al, are the direction of the center position in the NBA because they can get out there and defend those smaller guards on the pick and roll in space. Ever since the hand check rule went into place, the league has been trending smaller and smaller. It has sort of killed the big, slow, low post guys on the blocks, but has benefited more athletic, defensive minded fives. Most of those guys are athletic enough to give you a little offensive either finishing pick and rolls or attacking the glass or operating out of the high post, so it isn't a complete wash offensively.
