No idea about the time frame being accurate or not. If true, I would tend to agree that 3 years is a long time to carry out a hoax, however, if the perpetrator gets a lot of joy from doing it (and has a "fish on the hook"), it is not out of the realm of possiblility.......I have read and posted on Gator Country for several years now.........

If he was just truly a victim, I would agree. And I'm starting to believe that maybe he wasn't quite as "in on it" as I originally thought. I'm thinking that maybe he was just that stupid.

And the guy who did this is sounding more and more like a total sicko.

But hoax or not, Te'o took advantage of the situation and tried to use it for personal gain. I think he lied from the beginning about meeting "her" at the game. And then even after he knew it might not be real, he continued to lie and try to use the story for his own benefit. For that reason, I don't feel sorry for him.

If it was a joke that Tuiasosopo was just pulling for a laugh, how the heck could he have 1000+ calls over a 16 month period (that's about 2 a day, on average) with a large number lasting an hour or more? Investing 10,000 minutes into a joke? ... you'd think it'd lose it's comedy value after the first 100 minutes on the phone.

From what I saw on the news a few days ago, apparently what Tui-poo-poo did is not illegal, unless he does it with the intent to take money or financially benefit from it.
