Teo is gay and this Tuiasosopo is probably his boyfriend. Thats why they spent hours on the phone together and why he made up this hoax about having a girlfriend. I never believed it was about the Heisman. I actually feel sorry for the guy. It must be a difficult situation to be in.

First he fell in love with a girl he supposedly met at a football game but never saw again. Now he was fooled into believing that he was talking to a woman on the phone for hours at a time. Please tell me people don't really believe he is that naive...please???

At this point I don't know what to believe. When I heard this today I almost spit my coffee out. Teo on Katie Couric was another spectacle. How on earth can a guy have passable fake female voice is bey one me.

What seems obvious is that the guy went through a lot of trouble to pretend he had a girlfriend. Maybe he is a womanizer and he did this so his for his family. I dont believe that that he was fooled and I dont believe it was just about attention. He was covering for something.

Reports are that Tuiasosopo has done this before...he thinks its a funny prank. The conclusions being jumped to here are somewhat silly.

I thinks its the craziest story in a long time...but probably a cruel prank by a loser.

I'm not letting Teo off of the hook...but he may just simply be gullible beyond belief.

I think he is hiding something like he may be gay... he would never come out of the closest and risk losing out on millions of dollars. That's why he made this crap up. To hide what he really is. Imagine if he came out of the closet... I don't care what you say his teammates are going to treat him differently

Probably a cruel prank? Ha! The conclusions on this board are far less silly than believing the story Manti is giving. That he was talking to another man for over three years believing it was a female named Lennay. And he wasn't deterred by the fact that Lennay wouldnt talk with him on Skype, or exchange cell phone pics, or meet with him in person. Yet be lied in interviews describing fake meetings between the two because he knew no one would buy this bizarre cyber romance he was supposedly in. And he apparently preferred talking to this phony female voice alone in a dorm room to the company of real females which would have been easy for him. Total crap. Liar. I dont believe it for one minute.

If the hoax were that Manti was fooled into comforting what he thought was a dying girl, I could buy that. A three year relationship in which he fell in love--no way. And what would would this hoaxster's motive have been? Trying to trick a good looking, jacked up D1 athlete into a cyber romance? Was he planning on targeting Tom Brady next?

But you can talk on the phone or otherwise carry on a relationship while in a coma or on chemo...you just can't skype?

NJ's take makes the most sense; whether or not it's accurate who knows, but it certainly makes more sense than any of the other stories I've read about it.

Two cousins, a male and female, were alledgedly involved also and posing as brother and sister to Lennay and placing the phone by her ear when she was in a coma. Tuiasisopo had pulled the hoax before.

They also supposedly met in 2009. So she was the love of his life and he never made it a priority to see her? It was totally impossible to stop over in Cali for a day or two en route to Hawaii? NFW.
