Go look at - pretty much - any SEC team's incoming freshman OL's and they are about the same size. It's just the way it is. Sure they are big....but so are Bama's, UGA's, LSU's, etc. Nothing to get excited about...until they actually do something (besides get arrested twice in just a few months).

Pacyderms, DeBiglizard LOL.

I know they aren't proven yet, a couple of them have started and have good pedigrees.
Another is a Jr College giant. All of these guys were recruited hard by other schools but they wanted to play in the swamp. Couldn't be sweeter.

These guys coming in are more seasoned and we need good OT's. You can't get too many Linemen that are this large coming in. I know the teams that have to play us are looking at this and are winching. Their shadows are looming over the SEC.

FSU couldn't handle our decent line this year. Guess what they are thinking, GULP!

BTW, the "Great Wall" consisted of Lomas Brown, Jeff Zimmerman, Crawford Ker, Phil Bromley, Billy Henson and Scott Trimble.

I remember Lomas as a freshman, no fat, a small waist and huge shoulders. He had a tee shirt on at the spring game that said, bench press 500 lobs, in a time when very few in college football had done this. If physically there was an OT, it was Lomas. He proved me right by playing in the Pros it seemed forever. It seemed like he was never injured. A man that was born to be an Offensive tackle in Pro Football. Crawford was just as strong and burly, he manned the other tackle. You talk about two good tackles, at the time no had this caliber on their teams. These new recruits could possibly get us back to beating the Dawgs and Elephants!

Lomas was the first EE in my memory. One of my best friends was a reporter for the Alligator and I tagged along with him to watch spring practice. It was amazing to see a guy who was still supposed to be in high school come out here and dominate like that. By his senior year, he was actually one of the smaller member of that unit and one of the last to bench 400, but his core strength, mobility and technique were so superior to everyone else, he just mauled people. Zimmerman and Kerr were the physical freaks. Bromley was really small, but quick and strong. Don't remember much about Hinson on the field, but knew him personally. Really nice guy to hang with. Scott Trimble was the primary backup at a couple of positions. There was very little drop off when he came on the field. He may have been the biggest guy on the team.

Yes, but defense wasn't their strong suit even against acc teams. UF should be able to pound the ball early and often in that game. If not, could be a very tough game and season for that matter.

That OL averaged around 280lbs and it was a big deal back then (how big they were).

Crawford Ker started the Wing House! Didn't he play a few years for the Cowboys?

Billy Hinson only weighed around 255lbs.

In 1988 there were only 8 players in the NFL that weighed 300lbs or more. Now there are 8 or more on each team! Amazing...

I hope Muschamp understands this rivalry enough to know its ok to run the score up on these a-holes. It will also be a great recruiting tool, I'm sure he gets the importance of punking the canes in South Florida.

I'm not worried. I'm enthusiastic and excited for us to crush them.
We didn't blow out anyone last season and lose our best players on both sides of the ball, I'll believe it when I see it.

Ker played for the Cowboys '85 through '90.

The Great Wall was incredible. There wasn't a weak spot on that line.

The world (and Gator History) are littered with huge OL who never made a bit of difference. The Great Wall was from an era of college football when you won with 5th years and seniors. True to that four of those guys were seniors and Zimmerman (though a soph) was one of the most recruited OL in Florida history. It showed in the way they played, giving up only 10 sacks on the season. I doubt there will ever be a line like that one again simply because good OL (esp OT) play and leave early now. Consider myself lucky to have watched them play.
