What Do We Need To Do To Get a #1 Seed?
I enjoy the conversations about going undefeated in the conference as much as the next guy, but the way I figure our regular season at this point basically revolves around two goals: winning the conference and getting a number one seed.
Set aside the first one for a moment. What do we have to do in-conference and in the conference tournament to earn that one seed, keeping in mind we're currently sitting on two losses?
My guess is that the absolute worst we can do in-conference and still have a shot at that #1 seed is 15-3. That would put us at 29-5 going into the conference tournament. Considering the struggles of the SEC, we're not going to get a lot of opportunities for quality wins, so we'll just need to overwhelm the committee with a massive quantity of them.
Thoughts?

I agree that 3 losses is probably the max we can take, but that number (or 4 max), and we have to win the SEC tourney. 0-2 losses gives us more leeway, and only a conference finals would be enough.

No way do we earn a #1 seed at 15-3. I think it will depend more upon what happens to the likes of Duke, Michigan, 'Ville, 'Cuse, Indiana, 'Zona, and Kansas. The Gators will need a few of those teams to drop multiple games. The worst we could do would maybe be 16-2 with an SEC tourney championship. If we go 17-1 and make the SEC final, and play hard, we might have a shot also. There is little doubt, though, that the SEC schedule will be a hurdle for a #1 seed bid. Realistically, I think we should be hoping for a #2 and will need a dominant conference performance to earn that too.

I think we have to lose no more than 2 SEC games in order to get a #1 seed. No one (including me) would be able to justify us being a one seed unless we dominate league play this year.

And no way would that be a given either. SEC championship/tourney championship alone, would not be enough. CBS has the SEC as the eighth toughest conference. Realtime has the SEC rated the same.

With our remaining schedule, go undefeated.

2 seed would be fine. If that I pity the 1 seed in our bracket.

If we go 15-3 in conference, we would be 25-5 going into the conference tournament, not 29-5. It all depends on what the other top teams do. If there are 4 others with similar conference and overall records, UF likely wouldn't get a number 1 seed because of the perception that most of the other major conferences are stronger than the SEC.

Simulation at this site, RPI Forecast, shows Florida with a RPI of 6.1 that would be 4th best in the country. On this page of the site Florida, the simulation breakdown looks like this (allows for only one more loss to be in the top four):
Conference: SEC
Expected RPI: 6.1
Current RPI: 6
Expected SOS: 41
Current SOS: 7
Current Record: 14-2
Expected Record: 27-3
Current Conf Record: 4-0
Expected Conf Record: 17-1
Expected Record vs RPI 1-25: 2-2
Expected Record vs RPI 26-50: 5-1
Expected Record vs RPI 51-100: 6-0
Expected Record vs RPI 101-200: 7-0
Expected Record vs RPI 200+: 7-0
Current OOC Record: 10-2
Expected OOC Record: 10-2
Expected OOC RPI: 9
Expected OOC SOS: 22

it will depend on who we lose to, too. can't drop a game to one of the bottom dweller. sec is so weak, we may have to win 'em all but 2 at the most. and it's all contingent on what the others do - like syracuse, louisville, michigan, indiana, etc...
might be hard to crack the top 4. it will take us winning and some attrition - some losses from those above us right now.
we are a very solid 2-seed right now.

This. 2 MAX. Likely 1 though and it would have to be to UK to have any chance.

Good question. I think we could afford 1 more loss and would still need to win the tourney. Now, that said, I'd rather we go in as a 2. Just something about Gators and top rankings. I believe, taken as a whole, us Gator boys tend to get overconfident every once in a while.
