I agree 100%
unless your son can legitimately hold his own. there is nothing good that can come out of putting him over his head on the court.
your own fans will question you, and your opposition will mock you.
but in the world of sports coaching. Nepotism is rampant on all levels. However, if that is the coaches choice, he should anticipate and deal with the repercussions accordingly.
as a father I would never put my son or myself in that situation unless he 1. deserved to be where he was legitimately and 2. had the mental/emotional toughness to hold his own.

But if your son can legitimately play at that level, then I think the coach is better off putting him into a coach and program he trusts.
Even at UF, if Michael Frazier was Billy D's kid, how many questions would be asked about why he got so much playing time compared to the other freshman? Especially by the other freshman? Maybe they are an Austin Rivers level recruit, but even then he took a lot of shots last year for Duke, and given that there aren't enough minutes or shots in the game to make everyone happy, it just see it as an unnecessary distraction.
(The flip side is that Austin Rivers was a very good college player, so I can see a coach having a hard time letting someone that talented go somewhere else. But Haith's son obviously isn't that good... Or Billy D's kids, for that matter.)

Quotes from Haith are more revealing after reading aka's writeup:
We got to do a better job of handling adversity. Within the game, I thought we weren't able to stay in the present. We let things to affect us in a negative way. When you're playing against a good team like this, we cannot allow that to happen.

It's a horrible idea and your post just totally misses the point.

Maybe Big 12 fans are more polite, but still, he's in for a long SEC road season if word gets out that you can get in their head coaches dome by picking on his son. Certainly we have some classless fans, but nothing compared to some of other teams in the conference. I'll be interested to follow this to see if the pattern continues.

In my experience as a lifelong Gator fan, some fans at games say a lot of uncalled-for crap to opposing players and coaches, and to the refers. Good sportsmanship is a lost attribute for a lot of people, apparently.

I do believe the "Antlers", Mizzou's version of the Rowdy Reptiles, are known for being obnoxious and crossing the line. I don't think the SEC will offer anything too foreign to their team while on the road.

I remember getting yelled at by Eddie Fogler and ultimately kicked out for continuing to heckle that clown after a warning. I wasn't saying anything too terrible, I recall thinking that a coach who couldn't tune out opposing fans wasn't going to be employed for long. I was right back then, would wager that the same thing applies to Haith.

Yes he is and like I said at the time
It was a horrible decision. It remains a horrible decision
And one I thought he would have avoided. Nothing positive can come from it.

What if little Billy never plays and simply learns how to coach a college team while sitting on the bench? I'm not sure that is such a horrible decision.

What if having his son on staff costs him a recruit? I know I would never let anyone I was advising go to any school where a coach has his son as a player.

Let's start with the stuff that was mentioned earlier. There is no place for it in the game.

Yeah I'm apauled someone was called a waterboy. Whoever said it should be banned for life from uf's campus. That type of language has no place in our lexicon. I'm still disgusted it was said I mean waterboy what a truly vile insult.
