Undefeated is a difficult task to accomplish in Basketball because of all the factors that influence the outcome of a game.

Every team has off nights. If this team plays like it did against K-State or UCF, a hot opponent can beat them. If they play like they did against Marquette or Missou, then only the best opponent on a good night can beat them.

Which team will show up for any game is always guesswork. One thing that reduces Guesswork regarding that is experience, and the fact that this team fields 7 upper classmen considerably helps to reduce the inconsistencies that younger teams tend to exhibit

Regarding "Always Lose," there are two games on this schedule where the Gators have historically lost games they shouldn't: At Knoxville, and at Starkville. Both Tenn and Miss St appear to be pretty far down this year, but historical Gator teams have shown an incredible ability to lose to inferior teams in those arenas. Much like Gator football teams have almost never won when playing at the "Loveliest Village on the Plains."

Actually I'm getting a little afraid this team might win the rest. I was thinking the best outcome for this team would be to lose 2 or 3 SEC games and get a 2 or 3 seed that would keep us well under "the radar" - and keep the players good and humble/hungry

Yes, we looked sharp on offense against a good Arizona team (minus the last minute), but I didn't think our defensive intensity in that game matched some of the earlier games. And, although K State didn't score well, I didn't think the extraordinary intensity was there either. I thought it was more about K State being somewhat limited offensively.

Yeah, we'll probably lose a couple more games, but I'm betting our losses will have both teams scoring in the 50's and will involve us being very cold from the 3-point line.

I would have assumed this as well. In the last thread on this topic, I gave us a 2-5% chance. We've won a few more games, so I would probably up it a bit. However, I checked out Pomeroy's current predictions for the Gators, and perhaps the odds aren't so greatly against an undefeated year after all. His model predicts 18 and 17 conference wins as the two most likely outcomes.

Good point. Our 2007 national championship team was cruising through the league with little problem until they clinched the regular season championship. Then they had a serious lapse in focus and dropped 3 in a row. That got their attention again and they didn't lose another game the rest of the season.

Nobody likes to lose, but losing is not always a bad thing.
