Loeffler hired as Hokies' OC/QBs Coach
I'm surprised the Dazzler didn't hang on to him. He might be a step up from who VT had, but he sure didn't light the world on fire at UF.
Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer has overhauled his offensive coaching staff.
He announced Friday that he's hired Scot Loeffler as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Jeff Grimes as his offensive line coach and Aaron Moorehead to coach wide receivers. The three fill vacancies created when Mike O'Cain was fired as quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach Kevin Sherman took the same position at Purdue and Curt Newsome left the program.

I'm shocked anyone would hire him after the offense Auburn had last year...

How does this guy keep getting jobs? His track record is literally the worst of any coach I can think of.

Not sure what that means, considering that it is a team that averaged nearly ten wins a year for two decades before last year's implosion...
IMO, VT's biggest problem last year was the play of Logan Thomas, whose regression was worse than even Grossman's in 2002. I lost count of the number of plays that Thomas severely overthrew or underthrew wide open receivers for first down yardage.
Of course, among the VT Faithful, their OC, Brian Stinespring, is the apotheosis of evil and the SOLE reason VT never was able to take the next step to elite status (sorta the Jon Hoke of VT), and as such, they would have been ecstatic if ANYONE came in to replace him, but in their euphoria, they are extolling the same virtues on Loeffler that we did when Meyer hired him ("he coached Brady!") and now they add Tebow's accomplishments to Loeffler when in fact Loeffler did very little for Tebow (or Brantley, for that matter).
I fear that they will learn what Gator fans learned in 2011, that getting rid of one hated OC with someone else whose reputation was impeccable does not always work out. Who knows, it may be a match made in heaven, and Loeffler will shine for Frank Beamer, but I wouldn't bet the ranch on it.

It means exactly what I said. VT has no chance at a MNC. They're fine with 8-9 wins, all over scrubs, and zero of them being over quality opponents. Perfect fit for an average coach. Are they still something like 0-23 against ranked teams away from Blacksburg? It was 0-20 a couple yrs agao when they opened against Bama. That's hokie football.

That's the question. He's not as repugnant as Lame Kiffin, but he's sure as heck just as incompetent.

no offense, but don't believe that VT's offense will be any better from this change. Auburn's offense last year was putrid...

It was top 5 teams, not ranked teams. They have beaten plenty of ranked teams outside.of Blacksburg

That makes sense. So they're still ofer against the best teams. I can't recall them winning a pivotal game, but wasn't sure of the exact stats.
They're the biggest fraud "good team" in college football.

Clearly it was Addazio's offense not Loeffler's.

If you say so. They have beaten top 5 teams at home and I wouldn't be surprised if other big name teams have horrid road records against the top 5. Espn cherry picked that stat as if Hokies are the only one

Only took me a minute to peruse their rercord since 90. They have beaten a single top 5 team (miami in '03) away, home or in bowls. They don't have many top 10 wins either. Plenty of losses against the top teams, though. I guess you could say Beamer does well against inferior competition. Plus, they dont recruit well.
