Why did Prather travel?

I'm all for team building/ comradery and don't want him to be 'punished' for being hurt, but wouldn't it have been best for him to rest back in Gainesville?

He's worked as hard as anyone so why not let him enjoy the trip and be with his teamates. He got to experience a road game in a hostle environment and last but not least "Billy knows best".

He's a young kid so I doubt even if he was home he would be just sitting around. I once ran into a 2x4, which was being used to help support the post from behind which was used for the basketball goal, hitting it so hard it splintered small parts of the bone off in my leg. They put me in the hospital to do therapy and even then they couldn't keep me in the bed. Too much pent up energy.

Unless a guy needs active medical treatment, I'm against leaving him in Gainesville. He's a part of the team, and road trips build teamwork.

Comraderie, Teammates, high likelihood of success, all of these contribute toward the maintenance of a "Good Attitude."

Absolutely nothing is more important for healing that a "Good Attitude."

In fact, given his injury, which really doesn't limit his mobility, he can always use crutches, there was absolutely no "health-based" reason for him not to go.

Like Hall, when I had my foot in a cast for 6 weeks as a young kid, I was all over the place and doing things that now, as an elderly person, I would probably consider rather risky (like jumping off of relatively high spots to see if I could handle my weight with one leg?).

I think the only reason you wouldn't bring him is if he was suspended for violation of team rules or medically speaking he would be better off at home and that just isn't the case here.

It's psychological warfare. By having a 6'6"-6'7" guy on the bench in a boot who is perhaps the most athletic player on your team, it psychologically deflates opponents when they are losing and look at our bench and see one of our best players incapacitated.

We have to guard against that with Missouri today with Bowers. He is their everything guy. He leads them in scoring, 3 point shooting, and is second in rebounding and blocks.

I think Prather was needed so our travel squad would have the same number of African-Americans as College Station.
