Touche'.
I all seriousness, I think every fan is guilty of being blinded by loyalty to his school/team.
Most people do try to be objective. I have, at times, found myself trying to be overly neutral when it comes to officiating (something I learned quite well from Jeff) but it doesn't last long.
I think the best word to describe most UK fans is "passionate". I admire that and know quite a few UK fans who know a lot about basketball and almost all I have met are good people at heart.
I think you tend to see a big parallel between UK hoops and UF football. Both fans think their team is the elite of the elite and tend to go overboard at times.
With that said, all fan bases have their d-bags and honestly, the best way to handle those people is to not even engage the conversation.
UK's biggest issue this year, imo, is that there is not a cohesiveness toward a common goal. Unfortunately, I think Cal didn't anticipate this group not bonding on court the way last year's group did. I truly feel like that was a once in a generation class led by a once in a generation player. Those guys were unselfish and weren't eyeing the pros until after they won a championship.
This is the "bad" that you get with the "good" with the way Cal recruits. There will be years like this but ultimately, I think you take a year like this one as a UK fan every 2-3 years to get the team's you've had the past 2 and will likely have next year.
I'm more comfortable with how Billy does it, but to each their own.
