Funny someone hoaxed him in a way that inured to him almost winning the Heisman.
When something doesn't make sense like that it means it isn't true. It smacks of orchestration by some sophisticated operators.

I bet Bobby Petrino is getting some ideas how to reverse engineer this scam. You know--have a REAL gf, and make everyone else think she is fake from the start.
You can bet your arse he was watching the news presser taking notes.

So you mean to tell me a Heisman candidate can't find a hottie on the freakin ND campus to fall in love with?...with all the freakin hot groupies that he could just point to and take home with him at any club/party anywhere on any college campus? That's the one I was trying to remember earlier. I knew there was one that was similarly weird, and that was it. Still, this one beats that one by a mile in the creepy and weird categories.

It is inconceivable this was a hoax. Every aspect of the story including the death was designed to make Te'o look good. Zero percent chance Te'o was not complicit.

So when are people in the media going to lose their jobs? Seems to me to report on this as fact without once ever attempting to contact the imaginary girlfriends family or do any sort of fact checking is pretty irresponsible, lazy and unprofessional.
