Well the quote from the lawyer says that Johnson and his friends (and their wives?) left the scene after the incident to protect themselves. That sounds fishy to me. I can understand getting out of the area--but call the damn cops to report what happened: We were attacked by these guys. We had to defend ourselves. Here is their description and where we saw them.
The fact they didn't call the cops to report the incident is very, very important and enlightening if you ask me. It screams GUILTY.

The only talent Doug Johnson lacked was between his ears. That's what's so sad about his career. All the measurables were there in spades.

I'm not waiting. He was a punk ass when he was here and apparently he hasn't grown out of it.

I was buddies with DJ while at UF and I knew Xynidis. Xynidis was a complete douche. We always had fun when we went out with DJ.

I know what happened that night, and whether or not Xynidis used to be a douche, or the Greer guy got in fights, or Doug pissed off everyone in Gainesville at some point, you will find out that they acted almost as appropriately as possible. Just let the story come out.

Holy $hit! This is an all-time classic! Jesus Doug Johnson really sucked! Why are we even discussing that POS?

This may well be the case. And if so, I wouldn't want someone being charged simply because they won the fight. That said, I have good reason to claim he isn't my favorite and that reason has zero to do with talent.

I don't know what the truth is, but if we are going to discuss the issue at least pay attention to the other side:
“My clients suffered an unprovoked attack in front of a church at 1800 W. University Avenue on October 6, 2012, during which Doug Johnson was knocked unconscious. They, and the other members of their party, left the scene in an effort to provide a safer environment for their respective wives and girlfriends. They were pursued by their original attackers, and they lawfully defended themselves when attacked for a second time,” Finesilver said. “Based upon my investigation, which includes the interview of several independent witnesses, it is clear that my clients are the actual victims in this case.”

"The prosecutor dropped it due to insufficient evidence," Mann said. "You have to be able to prove that the subject did the crime, and the prosecutor was unable to make that link."

Wait! He has to be guilty. So many of the posters on here have already convicted him -- the evidence against him was overwhelming!

His guilt/innocence wasn't exactly established by that action.

Exactly. Especially if you know the accused personally. of course That does not preclude his guilt either.

I wasn't there, so I don't know. All we know is it happened (both parties agree) and that there wasn't sufficient evidence to take it to trial.

I'm sure there were. Probably not too many that could be found, though.

People shouldn't fight. Period. If you can walk away then do so. Even as a trained martial artist, I would end up with sore knuckles if I had to smash someone's face in a fight. It's just not worth it.
Glad the charges were dropped and hope dumb ass drunks get the message that fighting is a losing gambit.
