Why not? They did that to George Zimmerman too. But I agree that we should wait for the facts on this before we cast judgement. It would be shocking to me if Johnson had done something like this.

Imagine what he would have done if he looked like Jesse Palmer.

"Cappelletti told The Sun after the incident that he was walking down West University Avenue near St. Augustine Church around 9:30 p.m. when two women and three men in a rickshaw pulled up."
A rickshaw? Was Johnson pulling it or riding in it? LOL! I love the mental image of four people in a rickshaw being pulled along West University by Johnson.

Have some reasons myself. Let's just say he didn't endear himself to many in the academic community. Don't wish the guy any ill will and hope he works it out.

It's like he gave the police his version after watching a Seinfeld rerun.

While that image is funny (even more so if Dougie had on one of the pointed bamboo papasan hats), it was probably one pulled by a bicycle.

I agree. No way I could see him doing that either.

I always think its weird how Dougy was such an enigma at UF....DJ to Quezzy on the last Saturday of November in 1997 was one of the top 5 plays in gator history...Yet that seems to have done little to help his legacy at UF.

If you know anything about Greer the guy DJ was with then you'd believe the charges. I've seen that guy fight many times at home and away football games. He's not the biggest dude but he never lost any I saw him in.

My guess... and we are all guessing, is that the "victim" was a typical guido who talked some smak he could not back up and got the shit kicked out him. Ho hum. No story there. For the hate of DJ, I can only say he was not a great Gator QB, but it was not his fault he didn't have the talent of Danny W, Grossman or even Palmer. He lit up UT though and he and Noah gave us the best game ever seen in the Swamp in 97' didn't he?

You mean Zimmerman, the one who didn't even ask for an aspirin during 5 hours of interrogation and was ready to go to work and school the next day after his near death experience and injuries? That George Zimmerman?

Not to take this to Too Hot, but you dont have to be near death to feel like your life is in danger.

Looking at the victim, I'm pretty sure he felt his life was in danger.
But I get your point for sure.
As CRIMEDEFgator points out, there was probably some smack talk going on... seems unlikely DJ and friends just jumped this guy for no reason. Hard to tell what really happened.
But if Greer is a guy out looking for fights (per danky), DJ needs to pick his friends better.

DJ is very close friends with Jon Xynidis who is very close with Greer. Any big Gator game you'll usually find the 3 together with the rest of their crew. Greer is just a guy with a short fuse especially after a good bit of tailgating. He's not a bad guy but when he's getting in to a scruff XY usually has been smart enough to stay away or not get involved. I think on this case DJ could've been guilty by association or got a few licks in. He probably should've been smart like Jon usually is and stayed out of it.

Maybe they should just stop running with this dude. They're a bit old to be trolling for fights.

This. If your in your mid/late 30's and still hanging with guys like that, then your just asking for trouble. You yourself have a clear maturity issue and need to make some changes.
