Default ESPN's analyst has Floyd in the 1st & Jenkins in 3rd-4th

Quote:
I initially put on the film of this season's Florida-Florida State game (won by the Gators 37-26) to get a look at intriguing Seminoles OT Menelik Watson -- more on him later -- but I just couldn't ignore Florida DT Sharrif Floyd.

I had seen bits and pieces of Floyd during the season, but his film against Florida State is one of the better games I've seen from any prospect during the draft process.

Does not surprise me one bit on Floyd. Best tackle we've had at Florida since Warren. Jenkins will need to run well and get a clean bill of health to go that high.

Jenkins is a stud when he's healthy...If he can stay healthy some team will have a great 3rd round pick.

Projected late first round but I wouldn't be surprised if he slipped to the 2nd.

I think he was a little more consistent than Warren. Warren would make plays in the backfield, then there would be times that he would disappear throughout games. I remember those games against in '99, and then watching our defensive line get run over by Tennessee and Miss State the following year.

He wasn't the playmaker guys like Suh and Fairley were all the time, but him and Hunter took up a lot of space, and Floyd was the most dominant DT I've seen in a Gator uniform since Ellis Johnson-especially against the run. Floyd may or may not go in the first round, but he's definitely worthy of a top-20 selection.

For a safety like Elam, it all depends on the team. Anyone would take a tackle like Floyd if were available, but short box safeties like Elam are more particular taste. Can he play deep halves? Can stay behind a receiver in quarters? Can cover deep center in a cover one? Those are the questions defensive coaches will ask of the scouts and if the answer is hesitant they won't take him.

But if you get a team that plays a ton of plus in the box or runs a heavy zone blitz scheme, then he has a much higher value and I could easily see him going to a good playoff team late in the first.

Elam is a first rounder, along with Floyd ... If Elam slips to the 2nd it will be at the top, no middle or bottom. If the steelers or pats don't get him in the first ill be surprised they both have needs at that position... And we all know bellichik loves gators. And Jenkins is probably one of if not the best cover LB in the class so going past the 3rd would be shocking to me.

Elam should go in the first round, and Floyd in the early to mid second. I have Elam going to Pittsburgh, he could go as high as 10th overall to the Titans.

Floyd is a top-5 DT, probably the 3rd or 4th best in the draft, which would (based on trends) have him drafted in the back half of the first round. It helps that teams will be able to see film of him playing 5-tech DE and 3-tech DT.

Elam is probably going to be slotted as the 3rd best safety purely off height and measurables. Mid-second round.

Agree.

I'm not sure there is a better DT in the draft than Floyd. The short list I presume includes the kid from Utah, OSU, Jenkins (UGA). I don't know very much about the Utah or OSU guys, but I'd take Floyd over Jenkins any day...way more consistent.

Star Lotulelei from Utah is the real deal. Saw a couple of their games this year and he looked like he could play either NT or DT, as he's 6'3" 320 (with room for more, honestly) and incredibly disruptive. He was dominating double teams against Pac-12 opponents all season.

Jenkins is strictly a nose, and since those guys are so rare, he'll probably be drafted ahead of Floyd simply because someone will want or need a 1-tech (Floyd doesn't have the bulk to hold up at 1-tech in the NFL).

Haven't seen any games that Hankins played.

They're also high on that DT from Missouri, Sheldon Richardson. Seems like a lot questions about his motor could knock him down a bit, though. He had a pretty good game against us, and that's really the only time I saw him play. He looked good.

All it takes for Elam to go in the first round is for one team to fall in love. He's great in the box, extremely physical, and will be an asset for almost any defensive coordinator. He's not great in coverage, but he projects to be a strong safety in the NFL, so that shouldn't kill him; he won't be the primary option to cover the deep zone. He's as good a tackler as any I've seen at his position coming out, and the only real knock on him is his height.

Elam is going to be a great pro. First round or not, he's going to be fantastic.

I am pretty sure the common DT board looks like the following:
1. Star Lotulelei, Utah (probably goes 3rd to Oakland)
2. Johnathan Hankins, Ohio St. (middle first, perhaps to Carolina at 14)
3. Sheldon Richardson, Missouri (late first)
4. Bennie Logan, LSU (late first, early second)
5. Shariff Floyd, Florida

Kawann Short out of Purdue and Sylvester Williams out of North Carolina could jump in there as well. I don't see Floyd getting into the first round, but he will be taken before 50th. I also don't see how Elam doesn't go in the first round.

There are only 32 spots in each round. There are 74 underclassman declared along w/ the seniors. Elam is a great Safety, however at 5'10 (which he will likely measure at the NFL combine vs. the 5'11 we've seen at UF) he's likely not going in the first round.

Floyd looks like he'll be late first round from most of the mock drafts.

(Selfishly) Wish both of these guys came back.....

What about bostic? He's better than Te'O... I dont know how a team could let him slip pass the 3rd round.... It would be an absolute mistake, and any team that gets him after will be pleasantly surprised. He will last longer in the league than Te'O... JMO
