UK home cooking is alive and well
Just saw the sequence where Harrow sticks his face into the Vols player, gets grazed with an elbow, and then stiffs the Vols player. Net result was flagrant 1 against the Vols. Jeebus! I wish that the Gators had such home cooking.

ESPN just called Vandy vs Ole Miss a battle of SEC sleepers. Ole Miss might be a sleeper, but Vandy is a cadaver.

McBee elbowed Harrow. You can't initiate contact with your face. Letter of the rule, it goes on the player swinging his elbows. Watch the first clear Mcbee does with his elbows and then watch the second (where he hits Harrow). Very different swings.
Harrow shoved (to overstate it) the UT player that set a pick on him and then Mcbee shoved (the most blatant shove by far) Harrow.
Mcbee got a flagrant 1 and Harrow got a personal. Thats how it should have been.

We disagree on "swinging" elbows. It looked to me like he was just bringing the ball to the other side and the UK player thrust his face into it. YMMV.

I didn't mean swinging like it was malicious, I think we actually agree on the elbow motion. Probably just disagree on the face's role and implication in the ruling.

Tenn has attempted 1 free throw to Ky's 16. It is always that way in Rupp. Absolute bs.

What took people so long to point this out???
Really though, UK has to committ a shooting foul before you guys get free throws. I have mentioned times UK's gotten the benefit of the whistle. Sometimes fair refereeing doesn't mean equal number of shots from the stripe.

Play thug ball and you lose the free throw battle. It does not take smart guy to understand basic thing like this. It has nothing to do with BS.

After watching said game (and disliking both teams equally), I can say pretty dispassionately that the free throw disparity was due to UT not aggressively taking the ball to the hoop.
I'm pretty sure Martin told them at halftime to be more aggressive and lo and behold, they got more calls.
UT was terrible around the basket, couldn't finish and played out of control. Outside of McRae, they just are not a very good team. UK played at about 50% (not by choice, they just don't have it together) and still won by 10.

I paid close attention to this game, because I wanted to get a good idea of where each team was at. It's actually nice sometimes to watch a game in which you don't really care who wins and can truly be fair and analytical.

Well I did not pay close attention to the Florida game because it was on at the same time. I did have it on the top TV but I saw little except during UK commercials.
UK, playing the way they are now, are not going to go far. Basically they do not have a go to guy that will respond under pressure. The last three years they have had guys like Lamb, Miller, Knight and guys like Teague that would hit pressure shots. I have not seen anyone on this team step up to that role yet.

Cal is very difficult and uses his leverage on officials and will try to ruin guys careers just ask JB Caldwell. I was pleasently surprised to see Doug Shows ring him up in the A&M game and Doug does not give out many tech's. Cal tries to come off charming on camera but he really has too much mafia mentality in him that rules through intimidation. How quickly we forget history when Chaney went crazy on Cal...he lost it but there was some definite merit to why Chaney was upset.
