CBSSports.com Midseason Top 50
CBS lists the top 50 players at midseason including multiple players from several teams yet could not find room for one Gator:

None of our players have the individual stat line to impress. As mentioned, this is a very good team.
PY is the only player who might want to be a little bothered to not be listed among the top 50 players. His draft status isn't soaring right now.

Ok here are the top five individual stat lines of the 2012-13 and 2006-07 Gators mixed together.
Player Points, Rebounds, Assist
X1: 13.8, 3.9, 2.7
X2: 13.3, 2.4, 3.7
X3: 13.2, 4.7, 2.9
X4: 13.2, 9.5, 2.2
X5: 12.3, 2.2, 2.2
X6: 12.0, 8.4, 2.3
X7: 12.0, 4.5, 1.6
X8: 11.1, 6.4, 0.9
X9: 10.3, 1.3, 1.3
X10: 8.1, 2.8, 4.7
Now certainly the 2006-07 players would have at least 3 mentioned on a list of 50 like this. It appears to me that this team should have at least one player mentioned and maybe more.
BTW, I do not believe that the press hates UF. The children at CBSsportsline are entertaining and I listen to their podcasts, but they are not the basketball experts they pretend to be.

The media is enthralled by the one and done types who are hyped beyond belief.

that's a pretty interesting mixed list. very curious on who's who, in that listing. what you should do is send an email to cbssports w/ this info....and include who's who, maybe to open their eyes a bit.

Stat lines that are not adjusted to tempo are not that useful.
But I'd say that X4 and X6 have the most interesting stat lines for players that are not PGs.

All stats are useful but have weaknesses. Tempo adjusted stats are quite useful but probably not the primary stats used by the people who compiled the list being discussed. That makes tempo adjusted stats less useful in this context. Additionally, if you are looking at the same program coached by the same coach using the same system, the tempo probably does not change enough undermine these stats. So I think stats make my point pretty well.

Player Points, Rebounds, Assist
X1: 13.8, 3.9, 2.7 Boynton
X2: 13.3, 2.4, 3.7 Green
X3: 13.2, 4.7, 2.9 Brewer
X4: 13.2, 9.5, 2.2 Horford
X5: 12.3, 2.2, 2.2 Rosario
X6: 12.0, 8.4, 2.3 Noah
X7: 12.0, 4.5, 1.6 Murhpy
X8: 11.1, 6.4, 0.9 Young
X9: 10.3, 1.3, 1.3 Humphrey
X10: 8.1, 2.8, 4.7 Wilbekin
Certainly the Horford/Noah rebounds stand out. But to me the Boynton almost 4 rebounds per game stand out too. So I would say at the very least a leading scorer SG who backs up at the PG spot and grabs 3.9 rebounds per game on one of the top teams in the country has a case to be on that list. So do a stretch 4 shooting as well as Murphy and a big like Young that each opponent must account for.
Of course another criticism of this comparision is that UF's individual stats might decline some during SEC play or over a larger sample of games.

This year's team is averaging 5% fewer possessions per game as compared to the 2007. That means that there are 5% fewer opportunities for points, rebounds, and assists. This is not insignificant.

Here are UF's starters current stats:
Player Points Rebounds Assists
Boynton 13.8 3.9 2.7
Rosario 12.3 2.2 2.2
Murphy 12 4.7 2.9
Young 11.1 6.4 0.9
Wilbekin 8.1 2.8 4.7
Here are UF's current starters stats increased by 5%:
Boynton 14.4 4.1 2.8
Rosario 12.9 2.3 2.3
Murphy 12.6 4.9 3.0
Young 11.7 6.7 0.9
Wilbekin 8.5 2.9 4.9
So I do not think the conclusions comparing the 2006-07 and 2012-13 teams would be much different with pace adjusted stats. Thus it looks insignificant in this instance to me. Also this is still a matter of what stats the persons selecting the list of 50 players used.
One additional point is the current teams stats may well decline over a greater number of game including conference play.

Agreed. Seems like it would be easy to come to the O'dome and take out the Gators. I mean, they don't even have a single top 50 player.

Interesting comparison Insti.
So, you think that possibly Lottery Draft picks might be considered in the midseason top 50.
That appears a not unreasonable assumption to me.
