So when was the last time an opposing player scored 40 points at Rupp?
The performance by Elston Turner of Texas A&M tonight was amazing. He did this on 14-19 shooting from the floor along with 6-6 from the charity stripe. Even a lot of the Kentucky faithful were applauding him when he came off the floor near the end of the game.

Robinson was a great player. If he had had a better supporting case they would have won the NC.

Hats off to Turner. I haven't seen a player, single handedly, beat Kentucky like that since DWade did in the tourney.
Kentucky took the lead seven times in the second half. Six of those times A&M came right back down and took the lead back. Speaks volumes for how they played today considering it was a rocking arena on the road. Also speaks volumes about the team they were playing against.

No doubt about that. Of course he would have gotten our attention anyway since he is their leading scorer.

Seems to me Donovan has an interesting philosophy when dealing with teams with a truly elite player to put a good defender one on one with him and then try to shut down everyone else. Florida's team defense has been so good this year, I am curious to see what we do, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Boynton on Turner and everything else look fairly normal.

Shades of J Will at Rupp, still one of the best single game performances I've ever seen.

It might be better to switch off Boynton and Wilbekin.
Guarding a really difficult opponent tends to reduce one's offensive efficiency, and for Boynton to be saddled with that task an entire game may prove detrimental to team scoring.
Wilbekin is also a stud defender, as are, almost all the Gators who play, except Rosario and the frosh.

One could argue that lately Scottie is more of an Offensive threat than kb.

That is the biggest problem with one player that scores so high, they usually are not supported by good team mates.
Pistol Pete would unload on UK ever time he played them and never once got close to beating them.
What is interesting is that the highest point total by a UK player at Rupp is only 40 points. Miller in 1990.

UK is looking more and more irrelevant every game. I was expecting them to be playing better by now just based on talent and coaching. I don't see it happening. They are playing like a team that will make the NCAA's, but not the second weekend.
Still early in the season, though. Two years ago they looked terrible early on and played much better late.

There's way too much talent to write them off. Cal is giving them some tough love right now, which is not a bad move. As individuals, none of them are used to losing at all and they have to learn to absolutely hate the feeling.
I see them rebounding and beating the hell out of UT on Tuesday.
Noel is a great one. He understands the game and looks to contribute in every aspect. He needs two or three of his teammates to approach the game in a similar manner.

I agree with your first sentence, but not your last (unfortunately). Brandon Knight's team had some much better wins and their losses were usually just by a few points and on the road. This years team is getting beat by double digits at home.
Agree with Tommyuf's take on Noel though. He's actually underrated at this point and is putting up some great numbers. His PER is actually higher than Davis' at this point (granted Davis was less relied upon). Even more than that he's the teams only semblence of emotion and gives 100% every minute he's on the floor.

Ha! Losses will do that to you,
I actually loved last years UK team but hated the guys the year before that.....the good thing for you though, being a UK fan in the Calipari era, is that if you don't like this years team you won't have to wait long to see a new batch of "student athletes" come through

It was hard to dislike the last two teams. Last year was self explanatory. The year before saw them make a lot of improvement and really grow into the final four team they became.
The 2009-2010 team with Cousins, Orton and Wall were infinitely unlikeable. From Cousins' bad attitude to Orton's dumb, blank stare, there wasn't a game that went by when I wanted to see their rear end handed to them. I'm eternally grateful to Huggins for insuring that they didn't hoist a trophy at the end of the tourney. Cousins' scowl at the end of that game was worth it. I always figured that he'd lose it one day and pull a Sprewell.

I haven't actually watched any UK games this season, do they have anyone as good at defense as Scottie or Boynton?
