He probably realized he will never have it as good as he has it now at Notre Dame. He plays a mediocre schedule, on an over-hyped team. If he went to the Eagles, he would have to play against the G-men, Cowboys and Redskins week in and week out.
Besides his record in division II, he has not won a championship anywhere.

He never was leaving. He just needed his ego stroked just like Oregon coach.

Agree that he was probably not leaving. The dabble just increases his stock and increases the potential for a raise.

IOWs, if you don't count the championships he's won he's never won a championship.

I would like to personally thank Brian Kelly for his infatuation with the NFL in that it brought us Mr Anzalone.

ND fans may be breathing a sigh of relief, but the damage has already been done with Anzalone's defection. Of course this makes me quite happy.

I think part of the problem is that these college coaches are used to and demand full control from NFL teams; something NFL teams are loathe to give up. Only three coaches in the NFL have full control.
I don't know about Brian Kelly but it certainly hasn't been about the money with Chip Kelly. He came back to Oregon last year after having a deal worked out with the Bucs. How much of an increase in salary did he negotiate for himself? $0. He did ask for and obtain a raise for his assistants. I don't know if that will be the case this year but you get the point.

It's brilliant.
We got Anzalone out of it. Thank you Mr Kelly!
And at what cost? Oh yeah, YOUR reputation and dignity. Sounds like a perfect exchange. Thank you - good luck earning your fanbase' trust back, Mr "I already have the best job in America! (But I'd quite like to have a look at some other grass just to check...)"...

I agree Limey. He has just set himself up do failure in my mind because every recruit will not question his loyalty to them and the team.

I guess ol' Urb will have to wait a few more years for his dream job to open.

This means one thing, he wasn't offered the job.

According to one of TOS bloggers (twitter info), the Gator recruits said that Anzalone had been talking to them and considered changing his pledge from ND to us since early January. Then came the news about BK and his possible flirtation with the NFL. ........made that change easier.

If you were in his position, are you seriously going to tell me that you would not at least give it some consideration?
