He had one incident. A text message. Hardly violence toward women. And now we are getting more information about this most recent incident, which is looking less and less like an incident the more we learn. The "victim" is insisting no crime took place, and Rainey's been released. Come on down off your high horse.

Aggravated stalking of over 3 months....enough to warrant being kicked off the team by our most lax disciplinarian of a coach....yea, no big deal.
And yea, a letter written by a neighbor of Chris's that happens to get posted to deadspin of all places, is hardly a statement of any credibility. Sorry.
Chris is finally understanding you reap what you sow.

The first issue was more about what was said in his text. He dated her for a while.
Your issues with the defense of Chris can be flipped and issues can be drawn based on your guilty before proven innocent mentality.

The kid sent a text message that he was stupid to send and took his punishment. You don't (nor do I, nor do any of us) have a clue what happened in this recent arrest, but everyone involved seems to be saying that it was limited to a tug of war over Chris's backup and not what the arrest report says.
I'm not one to make a big deal about arrests no matter what team they're on, but get down off your high horse and stop trying to crucify people for things that you have no idea about.

Yea you're right...I don't have any idea of what's going on, because I've never been arrested. Yet somehow, a kid who has been arrested 3 previous times is probably not guilty the 4th time.
The only reason people are defending Rainey is because he played football here. Otherwise, if you heard about this kid in any other capacity, you would deem him as a knucklehead.

Maybe we should ban these idiots / Rainey from coming on the UF Campus or property, lots of kids work their asses off to qualify and cannot come, but he is just a joke, we only know about this 2 times ,how many times did Urban hide this before.

Actually. If he was anybody else you never would have heard about it in the first place.

I understand a lot of you want the best for Chris. IMO, getting kicked off the team is best. Whats to be gained by learning that there aren't consequences for stuff like this?

I think what we are saying is not that Chris shouldn't pay the price, but rather that Ben should as well.

LOL at Mel. You've provided zero support for your claims. Nobody's calling Chris an angel. YOU are the one who said he has a history of violence against women, including numerous run-ins with the law regarding the same. So far, the only evidence provided by anyone, including you, showing a history of "violence" toward women was the text incident.
So far there is a lot of conflicting evidence regarding what happened in the most recent incident. While you cite the letter to deadspin, you neglect to mention that the letter-writer also filed a police report that hasn't been made public, and the fact that the supposed "victim" said nothing happened, and Rainey was released.
Let it go. Admit you're wrong. It happens to the best of us.

According to today's Sun, the argument started when she found out that Rainey had a second cell phone. Now please excuse my ignorance. I don't understand why anyone needs two cell phones. But if he does, what is so horrible about it?
"You lied! You told me you only have one cell phone! Here's another one!" I don't get it.

I think you use the second phone to hide the fact that you're cheating when your gf looks at your normal phone.

Think? LOL...That's what it's for. I guess he didn't want her to see something OR he used it for business.

Thanks, now I get it. I've heard of smartphones, but I didn't know about cheatphones. I'm just behind the times.

Chris was way out of line with the texting incident. And appears to still be paying for it as he appears to have done nothing wrong here... except cheat on his girl friend.

What does black have to do with it? Care to elaborate? Not trying to make this something it's not, just curious as to why you said black. White NFL players get in trouble too. Look at Big Ben.

First, it isn't at all clear that he did slap her. He says he didn't She says he didn't. The fact that there was no injury and no marks on her face would tend to substantiate their statements.
Second, regardless of exactly what happened it would have been nice if the Steelers hadn't just booted him on the basis of a police report and instead waited to see how things develop. At the moment it looks like there's a good chance the whole thing will be dismissed because the woman wasn't hurt, says she wasn't slapped, and doesn't want him prosecuted. Even if it isn't, there's clearly more to this story than first appeared. IMHO the Steelers should have waited to see how it all plays out before leaving him unemployed on the basis of a police report.
