After the Pell grant wrist slapper, who has any confidence in the NCAA?
Especially with DaU.

Well the Shapiro allegations make that Pell grant stuff look pretty tame. That said I'd also be surprised if they get more than another wrist slap.

I'd prefer the slow, bleeding death approach anyway. Besides, I want to make sure they're around next season for the slaughter.

Absolutely NO WAY they get off easy!!!
1. Its been going on since the 80's and the NCAA knows it.
2. They hooked up recruits with all kinds of party favors.
3. The guy was a Booster and had his name on things there.
4. They have scUM coaches and employees with their hands in the cookie jar.
5. Absolutely the worst case of Booster Paying Players ever.
They may not get the Death Penalty but the NCAA is gonna pound them to an entirely new and unprecedented level. (see penn state)
Wouldn't be at all surprised to see them lose 20 schollies a year for 5 yrs. And that will GUT daEWE for the rest of the decade.

Zero. And here's why. You have to understant UM's role as the NCAA sees it. They are THE "urban" team, the team of the unaffiliated (see: non-alum) college football fan. No way whey hammer them too hard, as they are the conduit to the un-educated masses.

Dream on. No way the NCAA hammers them to hard. They are the ND of the modern era, the team that everyone who never went to college roots for. Or, better yet, the team of the community college graduate.

I honestly don't think the NCAA would castrate themselves and their authority by allowing this team to get away with this amount of crap. Especially since they have actual (guilty) parrots singing to the prosecutors/authority.

They are going to get hit hard. The only teams that get a break are Big Ten schools near the home office of the NCAA.

My UM sources/UM alumni friends are pretty confident they’ll get a pass on this.
We’ll see.

Well see.

Well, if the past is any indication on how the NCAA will penalize UM, I can see why they feel confident that they get a pass, again. Time will tell, of course.

They'll at least get sanctions similar to USC. I think it should be worse.

Well, there is one thing you can be sure of with the NCAA, there is really no way of predicting what they will do.

I can't figure out why the investigation has taken so long, frankly. Tom me thats the biggest mystery.
I'd prefer to see them get minimal or no sanctions - that way they won't have an excuse for sucking, and they'll keep Al Golden around for a while. Plus, the whole NCAA oversight concept is a complete joke - the funniest thing about the whole deal is how everyone acts like they simply can't believe this stuff was going on. I didn't even go to UM, but all you had to do was go hang out on South Beach for 30 minutes to see that the Coker-era players were getting all sorts of handouts. A kid from Liberty City or Immokolee who grew up bouncing from house-to-house because he didn't have parents wouldn't normally be expected in the VIP, getting $1,000 table service and smoking Cohibas. And yet, there they were. For the NCAA to come in now and act all outraged (after collecting millions and millions in revenue on the backs of those teams) - well, it would be funny if it wasn't so disturbing.
Also, don't think for a minute that stuff doesn't happen at UF or any other big program - maybe not on the Nevin Shapiro level, but it happens, and is still happening. As long as boosters exist, illegal benefits will be paid.

Maybe on the west coast. Even with Kiffin, USC has a tad more class than UM.
