Didn't SOS turn the Bucs down, and not the other way around?

I think the issue here is that he came out and gushed about how he has the best job in America, not interested, and all that......then goes and interviews for the Eggles.

Spurrier actually had agreed to take the job but changed his mind, I remember the Gainesville sun from the day talking about potential replacements.

The story was that Dr. and Mrs. Lombardi talked him out of it. The press conference was when Spurrier dubbed himself "an old college ball coach" or some such.

While not inflicting as much damage on the bucknuts as Kiffy left on UT, the mere thought of Urbie doing that to OSU is hilarious.

No way. Watching Bama's beatdown of ND gave Urban esophageal spasms.

He's not going to do that. He's been asked about the possibility of doing that and here's what he said:
“I made this clear to Gene Smith (Ohio State Athletic Director), if I am to go coach, I want to coach at one place, Ohio State University. It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to coach at Ohio State for one year, then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach at a different place. I don’t want to do that. I have too much love for this University and these players and for what we’re building at Ohio State."
So OSU fans can rest easy, you can see from this quote that there's no possible way he'll leave OSU to coach at ND.

Kelly had a raise and extension coming after getting ND into the title game. He didn't need to play off any other team to get what he already was going to recieve.
IMO, he takes the Eagles job.

I remember that, and all the noise on the old Gatorcountry mailing list. Still shell shocked from the Fiesta Bowl and then Spurrier taking the Bucs Job and then backing out.

Has Brian Kelly come out of hiding yet?...lol
Think of all the famous ND alumni, past Heisman winners, past NC-championship coaches, celebrities, etc, etc, that showed up to the BCS game IN PERSON to watch their beloved Fighting Irish win all the BCS marbles and reclaim their rightful position as the most sacred program in all the land!...
And then watch in horror as Bama scored TD after TD after TD all over Brian Kelly's #1-ranked team! Maybe he should just stay out of the country for a few more years...
lmao!

Actually pretty gracious. They were as perplexed as were when SOS kept running the 5 wr set even on our own 1/2 inch line. To be honest there was little if any smack talk on either side leading up to the game. There was a lot of mutual hate for FSU and UM though.
