Very silly thing to do, but I'm sure lots on this board has done a lot of silly things as well that wasn't publicized. POS to you.

Rainey gets the boot...
"Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey has just been fired from the team for allegedly attacking his girlfriend this morning in Florida, TMZ has learned.
Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert tells us, "Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing. Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers."
As we reported. Chris allegedly flew off the handle this morning in Gainesville when his girlfriend swiped his phone -- and slapped her in the face.
Chris has been charged with battery stemming from the incident. He's currently still in custody.
He's not some no-name bench warmer either -- Rainey scored two touchdowns this season for the Black and Gold."

He's in the wrong, but she's not exactly innocent. Whatever, Rainey gotta once in a lifetime opportunity to (play in the league) and he screwed that up. Ridiculous on both accounts.

Yeah I just assumed the mods would handle that so I didn't even bother responding to that.

Clearly slapping a woman is worse than rape. What rock you been living under?

The irony is Big Ben is being allowed to remain on the team...I'm guessing due to his ethical treatment of woman
Perhaps if Chris kept his abuse of woman confines to night club restrooms the Steelers would have found it OK.

Maybe now he'll get some help, i mean if this behavior costs him his NFL career he should realize it's something that needs to get handled. Once day he is a NFL player the next day he's in jail with no team and a reputation. Handle your biz Rainey before it handles you.

Gotta say I dont' understand the indignation over the Big Ben double standard. There's no debating its existence here, but who cares? Do you actually WANT the Steelers to keep Rainey after hitting a woman just because they made the wrong decision with another player and kept him? Doesn't make sense.
I understand a lot of you want the best for Chris. IMO, getting kicked off the team is best. Whats to be gained by learning that there aren't consequences for stuff like this?

Eyewitness: Former Steeler Chris Rainey Didn’t Slap His Girlfriend
http://deadspin.com/5975233/?utm_cam...ium=socialflow
Quote:
I am writing you in regard to your article about the Steeler's dismissal of Chris Rainey after his arrest this morning. Chris is actually my next door neighbor and I happened to see the whole ordeal transpire from my apartment as I was getting ready for class this morning. What the police report/your article describes as Chris "pull[ing] the woman out of a vehicle...and then slapp[ing] her in the face with an open hand" was actually him pulling on a backpack that she was also holding and she took a few steps outside the open car door that she was sitting sideways in (because he obviously pulled harder than she did). The only thing that I can imagine witnesses claiming to be a slap to the face was when he tried to snatch the bag and she put her hand in the way and his hand made a slapping noise against hers.
By the time I left for class, there were police officers taking statements, but the girl with whom he was arguing was telling the police officers the truth about what happened, so I did not feel it was necessary to make a statement. It seemed like they were just going through a formality because 911 was called. As a result of reading your article, I contacted GPD and asked to file a report on what actually happened. I was treated like a criminal, despite being a straight A student and never having even a little trouble with the law. I was accused of lying and told that, although they can't tell me who reported what, there was at least one witness who said they saw him slap her in the face.
I think that it is also worth noting that the person who called 911 was a neighbor who openly dislikes Chris and his roommate and wanders the neighborhood asking if she can have our passwords for our internet instead of buying her own.
Thank you,
Heather M.

Still Ben's fault. If they made playoffs this probably couldn't have happened. Wake up Chris.

Looks like Rainey might be able to take the Steelers to court over this unless there was something in his contract about being a good citizen.

It's laughable how some on this board are still defending Rainey...if this were any other player, especially a Nole or Cane, we would be killing him.
The kid has had numerous run ins with the law about violence toward women, was kicked off the football team for being an idiot, but given a second chance because by Meyer, because truthfully, he was a good football player.
Now, he's an idiot again, and he's a small fish in a big pond....and he was kicked of his NFL team...good, maybe he'll realize life doesn't revolve around him and his football skills.
