Let's apply the UK "we don't have to cheat to win" scenario to UNC. Since UF doesn't apply to this excuse, because other than our coach's success, we have nothing to say here. However, what about UNC? They have many of the advantages that UK has; tradition, championships, huge full arena, basketball school, multiple NBA superstars (Jordan, Worthy, etc). Yet, they still feel the need to break the rules in order to placate a star player.

What makes UK, Duke, Syracuse any different from UNC? If UNC doesn't have to cheat to win and still does, what does it say about other elite programs.
I think I see what you're getting at, I just don't think you can draw correlations from this. Each school has different leadership and different circumstances. In general, its probably more common that desperation makes cutting corners more likely, but so can ego/narcisim and greed/extreme ambition. Big time programs have an easier time recruiting usually, but they also have a lot more pressure to succeed. It works differently for different schools at different times.

I think there are big programs that don't need to cheat, that do (we've seen this with Ohio State football recently, UConn bball as well). Think there's also big programs that don't cheat. Probably some that have in the past but aren't recently, others that have in the past and are currently, and probably others that never have and never will. I'm sure there are small desperate programs that cheat and other equally desperate programs that won't go there.

I think you're trying to say if UNC has gone as far as they have (talking about the academic issues not jobs here), why wouldn't other big schools do the same. Couldn't we say that if Penn State went so far as to coverup child sexual abuse, what would make other football powers not do the same? I think the only answer is its possible some schools would and some wouldn't. There are lots of variables.

I feel that Kentucky and Alabama are the two schools in the SEC who need to cheat the least. You don't see empty seats at Alabama football and Kentucky basketball games.

A booster who has a firm can hire whomever they want to hire. So the Brandon Knight stuff is pure fluff; however, no matter where Knight would have gone he would have been a one and done kid because he is a stud.

My question is why would a 5 star stud go to a school in the SEC other than Kentucky?
So I am going to assume what your answer is. You have discussed recruiting throughout this thread.

I won't bother you with candid questions anymore.

I will leave the good basketball discussion to REM and Dailydouble when it comes to UK stuff.

I'm glad we are all in agreement that when it comes to recruiting UF and billy do it clean and cal/uk do it dirty. Always nice to see uk fans see the light.

UK fans sure see the light.

At UK every game has all seats taken. UK has Big Blue Madness with 23,000 butts in seats to document the following. UK has the most wins, best facilities and best tradition. Plus UK may have the best coach in the SEC. All those points make recruiting easier to land the big stud.

Why would a good recruit go to any school other than UK? Why play in a cracker box that is half full? A good reasoned answer would really be nice, tupacbiff.

Too easy...

Florida has better (in no particular order):

1) weather
2) location
3) academics
4) women
5) college life
6) improving players for nba
7) we dont have criminals on staff
8) better medical staff an med facilities
9) better strength prog
10) the wins u get will stay in the record books
11) you get to play for a coach who cares more about you than his own personal agenda
12) honesty
13) morals and values should count for something
14) you can be proud of where you chose and not be embarrassed later on when u find out what went on
15) I say so

Even easier:

1) weather (Florida weather is hotter and far more humid - not better)
2) location (Lexington located far better than Gainesville)
3) academics (Flagship universities no difference)
4) women (Both are great for women)
5) college life (I would Vote Lexington better)
6) improving players for nba (no coach can compare to Calipari, sorry but not close)
7) we dont have criminals on staff (nor does UK)
8) better medical staff an med facilities (no way)
9) better strength prog (doubtful)
10) the wins u get will stay in the record books (Florida has had more vacated than UK)
11) you get to play for a coach who cares more about you than his own personal agenda (the record does not hold up on that at all)
12) honesty (honestly?, not even close. Calipari rarely even equivocates)
13) morals and values should count for something (Calipari is a good Catholic and raises far more money for charity than Donovan - not even close)
14) you can be proud of where you chose and not be embarrassed later on when u find out what went on (That sure as hell does not happen at UK)
15) I say so

15 is the real answer. You say so.

Yes, I say so. Therefore you have the option of agreeing or being wrong. The choice is yours.

Plus let's not forget you have a criminal on staff who is lucky he never killed anyone. As a result your university as a whole should be ashamed of itself.
