Yeah, I heard that too during the broadcast. I was floored when I heard it. My girlfriend, back in middle school, used to do that too. (Kind of) She had to get up an hour before school and practice tennis. She later went on to play for IU. (Indiana)

But yeah, great example of a kid that is truly dedicated to his cause. Glad you brought this up. Gonna tell the 14 year old about it. She plays softball for her high-school. Frosh on varsity. Thx

I think a team does take him. What he does after that is anyone's guess.

If you get him at 185-190 at 5'9, I might take the chance honestly. I'm not saying that I am going to draft him in rounds 1-3 or even 4-5 but I would take a kid with a lot of heart. I know Will Hill is bigger but he sucked at Florida, and now he's coming along nicely at New York, IMO only..

I wouldnt say Will Hill sucked....did he play to his full potential? IMO no but at times he did (see the 2010 Georgia game) he wasn't a liability on the field at all to say he sucked is crazy

He's too short, dumb and immature to handle money.

If you are going to be a good NFL you can't be immature or worried about doing too many interviews or be short or whatever. You have to have god given physical skills and the maturity to work your ass off even though you have those skills.

Just my opinion.
He WILL get drafted... Kinda like the Janoris draft spot. How tall is Janoris??? He is doing pretty good in the NFL.

Not at all like Janoris Jenkins. Janoris is 5'10", 195lbs and has a much better vertical than Tyrann. Janoris also has ELITE, not good, not very good, ELITE cover skills. Prior to getting kicked off the team he was projected as a top-15 pick.

Janoris is also faster. He ran a 4.44 at the NFL combine. The Honey Badger is closer to a 4.6 40 time and anyone who follows the draft knows that's a significant difference for a DB.

And so was the honey badger also projected to go in the not top 15 but top 10! He was a heisman candidate as well. U will just have to disagree with me on this I guess. But like I said, not much of a difference in Janoris' draft.

Prove it. He was a freshman that year and was not projected there. Here's a good write-up by Russ Lande: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...e-drafted.html

He played some safety at LSU, I'm not saying he can start at safety in the NFL but I do think he can be a guy that comes in and plays a Safety/Nickel. Mathieu is a athletic anomaly IMO, his measurables aren't great but he became a standout player in a league filled with great defensive players. I think there is something to be said about that. How much higher is Ahmad's vertical that Tyrann's? I think you're discounting Tyrann's skills, but whatevs man.

That's what I said in my first post - he can maybe come in and play in a nickel situation. Maybe. He's athletically gifted but he's sat out of football for a year now and even back in 2011 he didn't have great technique. Sloppy footwork, would get beat on routes, can in no way play press coverage and even when a WR gets a free release they can still out jump or out-muscle him for the ball.

As mentioned, he doesn't have a great vertical (24" coming out of high school compared to Joe Haden 37.5 out of high school and 35.5 at the NFL combine and Janoris had a 33.5 at the NFL combine). I'd also be interested to see Tyrann's arm length and hand size compared to other guys who would be considered short DBs. He's also closer to a 4.6 40 guy whereas Janoris and Joe are in the 4.4 range.

Nickel corners typically (not always) don't get drafted until round 3 or 4. With his character concerns and lack of play for a year I don't see him going until the 6th round. I wouldn't even have him on my draft board - but that's just me. We'll see, but I don't think he makes it very long in the NFL except maybe as a KR/PR.

His biggest potential asset is as a KR/PR, not an every down player.

He's just not built for the NFL.
So buy your measuring stick where does ELAM fit?
