"For Florida, its Final Four or bust" - ESPN/Katz
Good article by a writer I'm a fan of. Centers around KB and coming off the back to back elite eights. Has some good quotes.
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...ege-basketball
Quote:
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Florida senior guard Kenny Boynton wants no part of the Elite Eight disappointment.
He's felt it twice.
"And it hurts,'' said Boynton. "We were with eight or nine minutes left to go feeling like we were going to the Final Four. It's worse than any loss we've ever had.
"Anything less than the Final Four will be a failure for me. We've seen the Elite Eight. We let teams get back. We have no excuse. We need to get to the Final Four and see what that is.''

Thanks for sharing REM. KB is a competitor and an all time Gator great. It would really hurt to see him fall short of his goals this year, but I trust he has what it takes to carry the team there.

Gee remember back in the day when Katz was the top college hoops writer in the country? How sad he sold out and is a corp mouthpiece now.

I'd be pretty disappointed with anything but Final Four too. The tools are there. Can't wait to see them vs. Georgia.

I think we're a year away from being a solid final four team. We could get there if we catch some breaks with brackets and such, but I wouldn't call it a bad season if we get to the elite 8 again.
Murphy's injury concerns me and we really don't have a true point guard that I feel can run the team at a high level at crunch time.

So let me get this straight Andy our team wants to win rather than lose, thanks for the enlightening insight.

I'd have the same worries you do if the today was the start of the tournament. I just think the PG situation will look better by then. Not the same as if you had Hill running it, but noticeably better than now. Guards don't have to be great to be a final four team, they just have to execute their role.
I'm having a hard time thinking of four better locks (no such thing obviously) for a final four than you guys are IMO.

Final 4 is a lot to ask for any season. I'll be happy with a good showing in SEC play and a decent tournament run. I'm not sure this team is as good as it was last year when Beal started playing well, and that team didn't make the final 4, though it should have. And this team isn't very deep. An injury or 2 could devastate them. I wish some of the freshmen, outside of Frazier, were getting a few more minutes. But freshmen, unless they are as good as Beal, don't get much playing time under Donovan.
If they stay healthy, and if Boynton gets hot down the stretch, anything could happen. Next year, with the transfers and incoming freshmen, I think we have a better chance.

Until we learn how to break a press we will have a tough time holding on to a lead against the top team, hell, Yale turned us over on consecutive possessions, that will keep us from the Final 4

Ball handling will be the issue for our run in the post-season. If we can get the ball up the court without getting frustrated then we can settle down and run our plays. But if frustration builds then our back court is going to want to do things they aren't and I am afraid they will lose focus on D. And being in a funk on D WILL be the ultimate downfall in any game this year.
I am more afraid that this team has a "UM-esque" quality about them (beat the crap out of the easier teams but struggles against the evenly matched ones) so that a low scoring defensive game is not in their psyche. And it is probably on Kenny and Mike to embrace these games when they arrive rather than fight them.

Wait, we have a weakness that could be exploited? Like the other teams in the field?
