As I said not long after the game, we really benefited from getting TAMU that early. We did very well but the majority of offenses we faced were not top caliber.
UT, UGA and TAMU with UGA probably in all honesty being the best.
We had a great defense this year but we're probably ranked about where we really are. Hard to argue against it after our last performance.

South Carolina is a pretty decent offensive team..FSU had their moments during the season...especially at home. We were challenged throughout the season....much more so than other defenses....looking at you Notre Dame.

Here's the larger point: Will Muschamp is a great defensive mind and an up-and-coming big time head coach. I think most of us believe that with some confidence.
That doesn't change the reality that Urban Meyer is already a top-5 coach, proven at 4 different schools. Any talk of "oh it was just the coordinators" or "oh it was just Tebow and Harvin" is absolutely stupid.
And while I don't know the real details of Meyer's departure, I'm also not interested in making them up or perpetuating fantastic tales that make him look bad just so we can feel better about the fact that he didn't want to coach here anymore.

How long did it take Muschamp to implement his defense at Florida? Basically one season. After one year, Muschamp had this team playing defense as well as, if not better, any team in the country.

Meyer succeeded everywhere he's ever coached, and honestly I seem to remember a decent level of success in Meyer's second year, I mean sure it didn't approach finishing 10th in the country but we beat some mediocre Rust Belt team for some ridiculous glass football or something.

Right I forgot Meyer gets no credit for his offensive or defensive coordinators, whilst Boom can deflect blame from the offense onto Weis and Pease (but gets credit for Gilly's 1000 yard season) and is solely responsible for the Defense (Quinn who?)

Meyer's not an offensive coach, he's a head guy not sure why you assume he'd be an OC when he's never been one.

Right, 4 top 25 offenses by year's end.

Anyone who bothers to pay attention would tell you Meyer emphasizes defense far more than he emphasizes offense. Just look at his plan to win... "play great defense" is #1 for a reason. Not giving him credit for our defense while he was here is just more revisionist history.

Look, it sucks that Urban's gone but he is, that doesn't mean he's probably not the second or third best coach in America right now (depending on your view of Chip Kelly). Boom might get there someday and the early results are mixed but on the whole promising, but to say he's there now is simply not correct and frankly not fair to Boom (if he's currently a top 5 coach then we should judge him like one next year- no more "he's learning" or "he needs time"- Saban and Meyer won titles in year 2, Miles may have as well, Chip Kelly has played in 4 BCS games the last 5 seasons- its BCS or failure by those standards).

So did urban just take 2010 off? We all know talented athletes who have the habit of taking every other play off. Is he a coach who took a season off?

I think it would be a fair argument to say he was not really a head coach in 2010.

Maybe he gives back the $4 million he pocketed for it, then. Plus the $1 million "retention bonus" he pocketed on his way out the door.

No doubt, that entire situation was a mess. I think Foley was totally thrown by the timing and thought getting him back for that season would mitigate the issue.
He was wrong, Meyer should have said "seriously, you don't want that."

Meyer has won everywhere, and would have beaten ND as well.
Some of the players you cheer for today, are from his efforts. And we still have two crystal balls that he produced for us. Only Spurrier is as good as Meyer, you ran him off also when perfection was not achieved.

Generally speaking most fans appreciate everything that each of them did for UF.
Sure, there are a bunch of jackasses that want to attack and are off ase. .. but you don't think they exist at every big time school?????
You get paid that kind of money to deal with the pressure and to win.
When was the last time that a good NFL coach got "run off" by the fans? NEVER.
You really think it is any different in college?
