A relatively easy way to explain Alabama's dominance
Yes, Saban is the best in the country. Yes, they have great talent. But here's the difference and I don't know how they skate around this one. They have what amounts to 28 positions on their football staff. No other staff in the country has "football analysts" as part of their staff and Bama has 7 of them. What the hell is their job in the program? I personally have no idea.
In contrast, we have 11 coaches, 0 "football analysts," and a regular staff like every other SEC school.

A D-1 athletic department can do as it pleases after satisfying requirements for NCAA. Like hiring a secretary per coach or a football analylist per coach. As long as the analysts are not coaching or recruiting.

Yeah, I had heard they may have something like that so I decided to look through their directory. Sure enough, "football analysts" are on staff at Alabama. What is their job? Can they coach on the field? Do they illegally use them for summer workouts and claim them as members of S&C staff? Can't believe the NCAA doesn't look into this one more.

And that's what we don't know. Alabama is like a well-oiled machine. I find it hard to believe that Saban can have them mistake-free year after year after year without doing something outside the lines. Even Meyer's well-oiled machine only lasted a couple years.

Our S&C coach can train them in the off-season why can't he have 10 "analysts" helping him?

They have 30+ guys who do nothing but watch endless amounts of football tape during the year looking for opponents weaknesses and forwarding it to the coaches

The NCAA allows nine full-time, on-field coaches per staff, but that hasn't kept staffs from becoming virtual armies of various personnel. A few years ago coaches tried to add a bunch of positions to the strength and conditioning staff because those are the folks who are permitted to supervise players during offseason (and supposedly voluntary) workouts. I'm not certain of this, but at last check the NCAA had imposed some limits on the number of "quality control" positions on strength staffs.

The key to winning national championships - have almost an entire coaching staff (7) of guys that supposedly do nothing but analyze football. If they had one or two, I wouldn't think much of it but seven?????!!!! Good grief.

I guess this is what Saban meant by the "organization" during his on-field post-game speech.

Yep
"It's hard to escape the feeling that we're headed to a point where the NCAA allows the moneymakers to spend the money they make, primarily out of a fear that the moneymakers will tell the NCAA to buzz off.
When that day comes, we'll be able to end the charade of coming up with all these obscure titles. Saban and everyone else will be able to hire people and call them what they are: Coaches."

In addition to being well-oiled machine, they've also been as lucky as any program in recent memory. Last year, they lose a game, don't even qualify for their conference championship, then get a rematch with the team that beat them. And this year they were literally two plays away from going 9-3 in their conference. Luckily, the LSU defense goes narcoleptic the last drive and Aaron Murray has a metho-radical reaction the last few seconds.

I hesitate to use the word "dynasty" for Alabama because they have lost one game at home each of the past two years. I remember a time when doing that was essentially the kiss of death to a season. Most so-called dynasties rarely lose at home.

Hell, they weren't even the best team in the SEC this year. A mid-tier Big 12 team was.

They probably hire all the SEC refs during the off-season to "analyze" their practices too.
