Prediction: Saban and BCS Titles
In the next 5 years, how many more BCS titles do you think Saban will win at Alabama?
My guess: 3.

I'm going to go with Zero. Winning three in four years is so statistically difficult that I think he may have maxed out. I am going to take the field for the next five years.

I guarantee it's Zero or One. Why so confident? Next season is the last of the BCS before the playoff starts.

what could be Sabans undoing, and all other SEC schools for that matter, is two schools with easier schedules like OSU, ND, KSU, etc., going undefeated, which is becoming nearly impossible in the SEC. The big 10, big 12, and ACC have been watering down their shedules for years, while the SEC is getting tougher ...
Still think Saben gets 1 or 2 more over the next 5 years if he sticks around.

Playoffs. They will change everything.
He will probably play an additional SEC school in the playoffs. This makes it much tougher. This will also take his 40 day advantage away. He will have 7 days to prep for the title game. Not 6 weeks.
My prediction is zero as well

But going undefeated loses some of it's importance with a playoff. SEC Champion should always (hopefully) make it into the playoff field.

1, he's dominated in the last 2 title games but remember a ton of lucky breaks go into any championship run and frankly the last two years were incredibly lucky for Bama.

He could end up with a couple so long as Smart sticks around. IMO, KS deserves much of the credit in all these title runs.

Very true. Playoff changes a lot of factors. I think he has a reasonably good chance of winning next year, pre playoff. After that, the odds go down significantly.

Over the next 5?
My guess would be UF, TAMU, Bama, Oregon all win one.
A repeat from Bama/Oregon is most likely, but I wouldn't be shocked if a Ohio State or Oklahoma type sneaks in one.

I would not bet against the 3. If any team is ready for a playoff system, it is a Saban team. There is NO ONE better than NS at getting their team ready for a big game. NS's biggest hurdle will be winning the SEC. I say this because losing the SECCG will knock the loser out of the playoffs. NS will continue to win as long as he is coaching college. He will NEVER go to the NFL.

Alabama is one of those very few programs that is perfectly designed for dynasties. It has the money, the infrastructure and can draw recruits through any season. The only missing cog is a great coach and as long as they have that they'll be competing.

Alabama is the only team that can lose late and only setback a position or 2 and be in line for the NC game. I understand that doesn't answer the question directly but it does get more possible when the system seems to look at the roster and even though they lose , believe they still have to be a top 2 or 3 team no matter the results.

But he won't have a month to prepare. That's a big part.

I think Alabama gets one. So will UF and Oregon. I think aTm will have at least 2 losses next year. I felt confident in early October that they would beat Bama, and that worked out. But I think they will see a drop off next year

Good thread. I think 2 to 3. Guys a frockin machine. Teams will Have as much talent but what separates them will be his coaching and ability to coach fundamentals and discipline

2 out of the next 5.
I'm damn tempted to say 3 out of the next 5 but I'll settle on 2.
The truth is the Big-12 is a mess. It used to be the Big-12 was a decent counter balance against the SEC. The Big-12 gave the SEC decent competition when they played for NC's but the Big-12 is no longer much of a challenge. With the Big-12 out of the way there is no other conference that can send a contender big and bad enough to take on whomever survives the SEC.
That is why Bama will roll to 2 or 3 more titles in the next 5 years. UF, UGA and USCe might steal one or 2.
I'm not buying the TXAM love but they are in a better position than anyone from the Big-12 or Big-10. The Pac-12 might be able to to supply a decent team but it looks like Lane Kiffin isn't the right guy at USCw so that really only leaves Oregon and maybe a resurgent UCLA. Oregon is a power but I can't seriously predict they will get more than 1 in the next five years.
Then, of course, we have the ACC.
Miami is about to get Nuked by the NCAA. FSU is a few players away from greatness. Clemson is a paper tiger. That is about it. VT is good but not great.
So, basically, I see the SEC taking turns winning it and rubbing it in everyone else's face with virtually no end in sight. You have the money, the big stadiums, the lunatic fans, that attracts recruits, hell, most SEC are willing to give up anything, and I do mean anything, so hang on to your wives and GF's, to win FB games.
