I understand why he is doing this, but I think this is a mistake. Unless he produces great measurables at the UF pro day, I think he will go undrafted. Maybe 6th or 7th round if he is lucky.

The thing he can do is run. That will help him. And when healthy, he can cover.

he covers way to well to go undrafted

He'll post good numbers at the combine, but I really don't get this one. I wouldn't draft him before the 5th round. He's undersized for a NFL LBer (6'0", 235).

I was really hoping he would stay. I think he could've really improved his stock and shown his leadership had he stayed.

I don't understand this decision at all. This reminds me of Will Hill leaving early. I also wonder is Jelani even going to be healthy enough to workout at Nfl scouting combine. The guy had a broken hand in middle of season and knee injury against Fsu. I don't see earlier then a 6th rd pick.

Can't imagine Jenkins or Reed received any favorable reports from the league about where they would be drafted.

Fowler, Taylor, Morrison, Kitchens, and Ball played pretty well this year. Would expect improvement from all five next year. RoPo will hopefully be back and exceptional for us, as well. Powell will have had a full year + a full offseason to bulk up and get ready to contribute. Then we've got at least four freshman coming in looking to make a name for themselves. Backer is the one place we could afford a defection.

Reed will go in the 2nd or 3rd round. Jenkins, provided he's healthy enough to workout for the combine/pro day, should go around the 4th or 5th. These guys have been in school for a long time. It's not like they'd ever be first round picks anyway. So I say thanks and good luck to all of them.

I'll be surprised to see either earn an NFL roster spot, particularily Reed. They both could have benefited greatly from another year of seasoning.

Dominique Easley is far more ready for the NFL and even he needs to stay and play another year at SDE if he's going to stay on the end in the NFL or bulk up to 300 and move inside for another year to show what he has at an NFL DT weight.

Come August, I think Jenkins and Reed will be wishing they had stayed in school for their final season.

I agree that they will go higher. Pass catching TE's are like the crave of the NFL right now, being that they creat mismatches for you. Regardless of his playing time this year, when you watch Jenkins on tape he has all the measurables an NFL player would need. He can run is great sideline to sideline, excellent cover skills sure tackler. At worst he doesnt get drafted and ends up playing for the Patriots lol.

Frankly, this is just dumb. Minimum 3 tight ends on every team's roster x 32 teams is 96 available slots at a minimum (keep in mind that over the last few years teams like the Packers have kept up to 5 TEs on the roster). You don't think Reed, who is one of the in-demand flex TE/WR types, can be one of the 100 best TEs in the NFL?

This is odd. Jelani's always been very smart, and I assume he'll be graduating soon, if he hasn't already. So I know this isn't a decision made lightly. But I don't understand what he's seeing here.

If there was any of our juniors that I thought "no way should they go out"--it'd be Jenkins. Not because he can't make it in the NFL (he can)--but because it'd greatly benefit him to play a full year healthy for a high-profile SEC team that could possibly be in the national championship picture next season. I hope he's getting good advice.

Once again, what does playing a full season do for his ability which will be what he is drafted on, not his productivity. He has played well most years and Im sure the NFL scouts recognize that and arent worried about a few missed college games, ESPECIALLY if the injuries werent overly serious, like he tore every major ligament in his knee or something like that.
