By a lot of objective analysis, he's doing himself a disservice by leaving because he's still developing at the position (has the tendency to jump when catching the ball, didn't run the crispest routes, and was definitely not a blocker)--but then again, many NFL teams want an athletic receiving TE who poses matchup problems for other teams and don't really care if their games aren't the most polished.
See Jimmy Graham in New Orleans, Vernon Davis in San Fransisco, or both Gronk and Hernandez at NE.
In that manner, a NFL team that's looking to replicate the success of those TEs could easily take Reed and make him a star.
