Thank you. I don't see the comparison at all. For three years Gilly made big plays in his limited opportunities. We were all puzzled by why he didn't get more touches. I don't recall anyone screaming to get Jacoby more playing time during the season. And when he did play, he looked like, well, a backup QB, and an average one at that.
Some people just jumped on the Jacoby bandwagon early on and can't let go. It reminds me of Brantley. Even after a couple of terrible seasons some here were still arguing that he would become an NFL starter and prove everyone wrong. So much for that.
Lets also not forget everyone was gushing about Jeff after LSU, Vandy, FSU... He clearly has to improve some aspects of his game but the kid has shown a lot more than Jacoby ever did, which is why he is our starter. Let me ask you this, would you be more upset if it was Jeff transferring?

Based on what really? What have you seen out of Jacoby that leads you to believe he is a star in the making? I think we all see the flashes in Jeff even if it's a work in progress, but I honestly cannot remember one time I have seen Jacoby and thought to myself: 'yeah, this kid is the real deal'.

Skyler Mornhinweg please study your film and please throw that ball every day because if Jeff gets hurt you are one play away.

In Driskel I see another Brantley except for his incredible wheels which makes a big difference. But if Jeff ever had to play on a somewhat gimpy ankle so that he couldn't run or scramble i think he would be John Brantley II.

Here we go with the over-reacting. Jeff needs to learn to read defenses. The same can be said about most sophomore college qbs with a year of starting under their belt. There are NFL qbs still learning to read defenses.

And there's the rub. The last sophomore that started at QB at UF won the Heisman.

I am surprised. This is a big loss imo because there is nothing like a gr8 backup qb. I have a feeling that Griers comittment may have contributed to this decision.

Highly doubt Grier had an effect on Brissett decision. Grier will be a true Freshman when Jacoby is a SR.

What's Brantley doing these days?

The only thing JB and JD have in common is nightmare dreams every night of D-line in their face immediately upon completion of a three step drop.

This happens when people treat the exception as the rule.

I'd only be more upset if Jeff was going to a spread school, then I'd think Cam 2.0, As for people gushing- after FSU yes, not so much after LSU, and after Vandy I just thought we need to run more spread option as its clearly Jeff's strong suit.

The one before that had a hell of a year and showed flashes of brilliance (as well as some mental issues) and the one before him should have won the Heisman.

Probably the same thing Driskel will be doing in two years unless he learns to read a defense and a few other things.

Transfers aren't Gators any longer, unless however they earned a Gator degree. Jacoby could redshirt a year and be the man in two years. Plus, he could - would probably get PT if Jeff went down. In today's game that's not far fetched. Muschamp could've put Jacoby in to relieve Jeff, but I agree, for Jeff's development and the Gator program it was better he got all the reps. I think Jacoby knew Jeff was going to be the guy, but with the way people get banged up, he would get more PT.
I want everyone to remember one big factor with Jeff though, he played high school at Haggerty H.S which was built to relieve the population at Oviedo H.S. They're program was new, they had no established players yet. Haggerty was Jeff Driskel. He did it all. If he wasn't there Haggarty would not have played in any playoffs. The playoff game against Lakeland was one of the best performances in high school playoff history. He needs all the PT he could get. He has improved, and he has amazing talent. If only he had played more last year, but they all played so I can't bitch. I think he's right on in his progression.
Jacoby wants to play, I don't blame him. You make the decision and move on.

Exactly...and we all watched a first year starter win the Heisman this year. I agree these kids are exceptional, but it also makes it harder to get a free pass due to youth.

I don't think being a "Gator" as inclusive a club as some of you make it seem. I've never even been to Gainesville, I attend Southern University in Baton Rouge,LA (lol yeah ikr) and I for all intents and purposes bleed Orange and Blue. Jacoby was a team player through and through (from our perspective) and will be a Gator if he wants to be. Even if he goes to another school.
