It doesn't work that way. We're part of the SEC. We have an obligation to uphold the dominance of the SEC in bowl games (not to mention to continue the outstanding season we've had), and we failed miserably. We thought it was shameful and made fun of Les Miles for yet another stupid call toward the end of their game with Clemson... until our game. So far only three teams have let the conference down: Mississippi State who was obviously outmanned against Northwestern, LSU who was matched against a decent team in Clemson, and the Gators who were matched against a much inferior team. We are the laughingstock of the SEC this year hands down. All the good will that we accumulated during the year was flushed down the toilet in the Sugar Bowl.

Just curious...but why am I being told how to feel and what my timetable is for emotional recovery?
Is this thread serious?

Honestly, who cares if they do, which would surprise me anyway considering we stomped them on their own home field and played one of the hardest scheds in the country.
Many here were talking doom and gloom after the UGA loss, but we bounced back from that. We'll bounce back from this one too.
Eveb :mighty" Bama lost on their own home field this year. Losses happen. We're not immune to them.

Great season until the ball game. Very disappointing to see the team not be prepared for it, which always points towards the coaching staff. i like the energy of the staff, but let's face it, WM is still learning how to be a head coach. Do we have the patience to let him learn? The coaching staff needs to step it up.

The fans didn't show up for this game and neither did the team. The fans thought it was going to be an easy win, and so did the team. We all seemed to have forgotten the lesson we taught Ohio State!
Charlie Strong has done an awesome job with his Louisville team, they deserved the win, let there be no doubt about that. I don't know what he said after the game though, because I couldn't stand to watch another second!

These lessons are never learned because of the turnover in players. You would think, though, that somewhere in their high school careers kids playing in college would have learned this kind of lesson and thus know better. But for whatever reason that's not how it works.

Why are some players allowed to keep showboating and yaking it up when it's obvious the D couldn't stop UL? Why is it after 12 games we still can't figure out how to pass or how to beat 8 man fronts? Why do senseless penalties continue? Why do we still play undisciplined? Are we really as good as our record indicates? Signiture wins, Texas A&M (they'd kill us now, we played them when Johnny Football was raw), LSU one word Mettenburger, USCE we played well and they blundered, Sow really sows a great team??? Why was it that we struggled with most of our "cupcake" teams?
To me this was not just a game or an isolated game. This team still imo has real issues. In a way this game was a snapshot of the season except that during the season we managed to win with better or equal talent.

QFT!!!
Just thought I'd bump this since none of the very applicable questions asked here have been addressed by our sunshine brigade. As for the OP, I was "over" it at halftime. But I'm not so naive as to think there aren't some real, systemic problems in our program and that those problems were on full display last Wed. night.

It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach. I don't want to do that. I have too much love for this University and these players and for what we've built." - Urban Liar

So Tip, whadda you think the systemic problems are, how long have they been here, and where did they come from ?
And of course, your ideas about the cure ? Seriously.

I think the systemic problems were enumerated in the post I quoted. They have been around since Tebow's last year and have followed us through the Dazzler audition into Muschamps second year.
My ideas about the cure...well, first we need to get someone in here who can coach the offensive line into learning to not be a bunch of turnstiles. Then we need to get someone who can coax some offensive firepower out of our QB and receivers. And finally, we need *someone* to break their foot off in the ass of any player who showboats when we're down by 20 pts. And it would be nice if *someone* can come up with a way for us to not play down to our competition every week...and finally, that same *someone* needs to understand that UT, FSU, and UGA are not "just another game."

i think you have to let people vent about this loss. i wouldn't advocate stifling any discussions about it. we're looking to advance the program. i.d. the issues, see if we can come up w/ solutions. one thing though, we're gonna have games like this; we've had 'em in the past, we'll have 'em in the future.
if you go by the bowl, there's about 500 things to improve on ... i agree w/ those that say - let's have our players play w/ a bit more poise and class. it's tough to stomach when you get your butt kick and also have those antics on the field.

The biggest issue for so many years was the failure on the big stage for this program. Thankfully, we have enough success in our back pocket to withstand the disappointment when nights like Wednesday happen.
