If talent alone won games then USC, Texas, Fsu and yes uf would all be much better teams

Lou's three games before the sugar bowl:
Lost to SYR
Lost to UCONN in OT
Beat Rutgers by 3
More talented than 11-1 UF that beat TXAM, USCe, LSU and FSU? Get real. They played the game of their lives and will never play that well again. They are like a Flock of Seagulls. One hit wonders. They are like Vanilla Ice. One big hit and never heard from again.

I agree with almost all of this - But, The Flock of Seagulls had one whole album that was a hit, not just one song.

What does any of that have to do with UF/UL?
We struggled against Bowling Green, ULL and Mizzou. I think we would have struggled against the 3 teams you mentioned below as well...
I really don't know how any sane person can look at our offensive woes the past season and think that we can roll over any team???

lol, this is just outrageous.
I realize how good Louisville looked, but they are not 80% favs. I could understand picking them around 50% of the time because they matchup quite well.

Can't we just give louisville credit without resorting to stuff like this?

How is this even a serious question!?!? Come on guys, I know we are all disappointed and embarrassed but this thread lacks serious perspective.

There was no spread. it was just "pick the winner."

It's pretty obvious it was a serious question since the thread is filled with people who would pick Louisville.
You might want to ask if any of those can be serious answers, but the question was most definitely serious because I wanted to see how many people decided because of that particular result that Louisville was as good as us or better than us.
The answers proved that many feel that way though I'm not one of them.

Folks one game does not prove who the better team is given a proper sample size.
Football is a game where the best team doesn't always win, heck we usually never know who the best team is.
If we played UL 30 times I bet we win 20 of them. That's my guess given the evidence of the season. But guess what? That still means UL wins 33% of the time.

I am very surprised how so many people here do not understand how important the QB position truly is. Go back to every bowl game this season and show me the QB that played better and I will show you who won the game. Find me one team that won in spite of their QB???
Go to the NFL, especially today. Show me the better QB and I will show you who won the game. This is not rocket science. Go to HS and look at who won state titles. Show me a good QB and I'll show you who won games. I could care less about receivers, OL and RB's. Those help but a good QB will make everyone look good.
Bridgewater versus Driskel comes out the same result 10 out of 10 times. Stay in denial all you want while you wear your Tebow Bronco's jersey.

Look at Denver, Washington and Indy this year. What changed on their teams? They are the exact same teams they were last year with one exception... QB. Funny how Indy went from the worst team in the league to a playoff contender in 1 year. Denver's Oline and receivers were considered the worst in the league last year. Now they are leading the league.

We would still lose as we would think we should have played Oregon and go in flat against a team that doesn't ring our challange bell.

Apparently not.
Louisville clearly dominated us in this game, but I would only make them a slight favorite in a rematch. We self-destructed a couple of times with pick-6s, penalties, and onside kicks putting ourselves in a real hole. They handled us pretty well on defense when we tried to play catch-up. We probably would do better next time. They outcoached us too. We might improve there. However, we had trouble coping with the type of offense they have and how well they throw the ball. That would still give us a problem in a rematch.
I'd make Georgia a favorite over us in a rematch. They were every bit as physical as us on defense and their offense is much better.
I think we'd be a slight favorite over punchless LSU, a team which was Florida's mirror image this year.
I'd make us a favorite over FSU again. We were more physical on defense, and I wasn't impressed with FSU's offense all year.
I think you'd have to make Florida a favorite again against South Carolina, but I wouldn't want to bet on that game. We completely dominated, but they self-destructed quite a bit. Based on the team's performances during the year, I think the rematch would be much closer than the first game indicated. The offenses on both teams were error-prone - every time Conner Shaw rolled left and tried to throw back against his body something calamitous happened. Both defenses were very physical all year, but we were more physical against them. In the bowl game, SC's second QB looked like the passing QB SOS has been looking for, while Florida clearly regressed in every phase of the game. I'm biased because I'm a big SOS fan, but, despite the first result, I think the rematch would be a very tough game and might go either way.
On the other hand, even though we won the first game, I think Texas A and M would be a clear favorite to beat us. It was their first game of the year, and Manziel's first game ever. A&M improved dramatically in the second half of the season. They're a better team than Louisville, which beat us badly. I'd bet on A&M in a rematch.

I pretend not to be an expert at analyzing the finer points of a game plan or even given strengths vs. weaknesses. Still, throughout the game my mind kept going back to all the pass interference calls the secondary had called against them this year. My observation led me to the conclusion that the secondary isn't quite as airtight as given credit for. Many of the interference calls were a result of the DB being beaten. In Bridgewater, they faced a smart, accurate quarterback that had enough time to operate. Add in a handful of mistakes, and what should have been a closer game than predicted, turned into an embarrassment.

Our secondary looked good this year because they went up against bad QB's that couldn't throw the ball. Bridgewater was the best QB we faced all year. Then Manziel in his first game. Then UGA then probably UT. The rest were pretty awful. Johnny Football would carve us up right now.
