Muschamp and Saban are having very similar starts in their first 2 years at their current programs:
Alabama
2007) 7-6
2008) 12-2 lost to Utah in Sugar Bowl
2009) Sec/BCS National Champions
Florida
2011) 7-6
2012) 11-2 lost to Louisville in Sugar Bowl
2013) ???
If the trends continue Florida Football is on its way

I keep seeing this, and I need some actual reasons (not coincidence) as to exactly why Bama's path to success is indicative of how we - a completely different team - will have eventual similar success.

No Way.
Saban had a better offense going into his third year and better QB play in McElroy and a stout O-line.
Losing Floyd, Elam, Bostic and Gilly (possibly Easley, Jenkins and Reed) is going to hurt.

UGA also loses their ENTIRE starting defense...and possibly their record setting QB...next year will definitely be the year we need and should beat UGA....last year we werent good...this year we gave it to them...no excuses next year...

fla fans need to pray that nick saban takes an nfl job---if he stays at alabama, they will be dominating the SEC for years. He may end up with 8-10 BCS titles before he's finished.

I could see us winning the East next year if we can get by USCe on the road, but I have a really really hard time seeing us beating Alabama assuming Saban is there. They were a young defense this year and will only get better. In 2009, Bama returned most of it's team, we lose a lot of core players in 2013.
We are going to have to win a few games with offense next year as our defense won't be as lights out, which needless to say will be problematic.

I think way to beat Saban is to out think him not slavishly idolize him and copy every little thing he does which seems to be our current approach. Since the start of the 2008 season only one team has beaten Alabama with a pro style approach, every other loss was achieved via the spread- the weakness of a Saban defense is its size and power- you can't hit it head on, you can however pick it apart- see what Louisville did to us, what Auburn, USCe, Utah, Tamu and we did to the Tide since 2008- put them in space and make them uncomfortable.

It will all depend on what color unis we choose to wear. That is fact. (as evidenced by the numerous posts on other threads which clearly claim our jersey color dictates how we play.)

If you are referring to the comparison many folks are making between us and Gumps--I totally agree. That is why I made the sarcasm laden post about uni color.
Comparing us to Bama has the same impact as what color jerseys the team wears---zilch. Simply because the 1st year record at Gumpville may be same--simply because we lose a bowl game we expected to win but didn't due to letdown or lack of showing upor whatever...simply because we have same record in 2nd year as Gumps......means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Coincidence and nothing more.
Too many people are irrationally setting themselves up for some lofty expectations with no basis at all. And when..if....it doesn't pan out like they expect, then the meltdown and bashing will be at epic levels.

It is what I meant. There are literally trillions of factors at play here. I realize that the causation gives people hope, but come on.

No question Bama has been on a roll the last 4-5 years (minus 2010)...if they win it this year they will be a dynasty sure...but dynasties have come before them (80s Miami, 90s Nebraska, 2000s USC)....what Bama is doing is special but its not exactly extraordinary...it has been done before and will be done again...we were 1 game away from a mini dynasty ourselves from 06-09....
And they do lose some talent on defense...Lester, Williams, Dial, Square just off the top of my head...thats just SRs, not counting JRs who might bolt early...(Lacy I expect will)..
The only thing really that amazes me with Bama is how they have been able to keep Kirby Smart this whole time...he must have the head coach in waiting title etched in his name..

You left out TAMU. And scUM will be waiting in the weeds. We could go 11-2 or better, but we could lose five.
