My thoughts exaclty. I know I get slammed for saying this, but in any other season if Bama had lost to a Big 12 school with 2 losses already at HOME, no way they are in the national title game. Bama made Mettberger look awesome... if ND can pass, the title game will be closer than expected. Having said that, I have no idea if ND can throw the football.
Florida should have been ranked ahead of bama and made the trip.

This, Clemson's a much more attractive offense for a WR than ours that's just a simple fact- if you're a WR you probably don't want to run block 2/3rds of the time and get may be 4 or 5 passes thrown to you a game (if you're lucky). Ours is much more attractive for RBs its just the way things are.

I real happy for the SEC's sake that they face ND instead of Oregon, I think Bama would get boat raced by the Ducks this year- they're too big, and don't have the lateral speed necessary to keep up with an elite spread offense- watch the TAMU game again if Bama doesn't get Bama calls that's a blowout.

Doesn't matter, kid is coming here anyways cause he loves the Gators. No doubt Pease will get him the ball as a freshman. Being an EE only helps his chances of seeing the field early.

Don't think there's anything to be "too" embarassed about. LSU lost a lot in their secondary from last year and were breaking in a new QB this season. Their offense should be a pretty balanced one next year IMO.
Plus, Clemson has an awesome, and fun-to-watch offense, and IMO, their defense played better last night than they have all season long. I also thought LSU got away from their run-game way too early and sort of sat on the lead. You can't do that against very good offenses.
FSU wouldn't have beaten this Clemson team last night IMO.
Fact is, the better team doesn't always win.
Give Clemmons their due. They hung in the game and took advantage of LSU's sitting on the lead and made them pay for it.

That's also a high-profile, SEC West rivalry game, LSU was at home, and they were playing a bit above their heads too IMO.

I think you ignore the fact that we didn't have the personnel to rely on the passing game to sustain drives and score points.
Poor pass protection from the offensive line, a first year quarterback and not one wide receiver that could consistently get separation and force defenses to respect the deep ball is not a recipe for success in the SEC.
Throw in a couple of burners who can stretch a defense and force the safeties to play a deeper zone and you'll have the passing game that you so much desire.
I think some of you have this mistaken notion that because this is Florida Gators, we can throw the ball 40 times a game and win, even when we don't have the talent to do it.....smh

Although Quinton Dunbar's light began to come on late in the season. He was a welcome surprise in the last few games I thought.

He's done a good job at finding openings underneath the zone and making some good catches. I'd rather have him than nothing at all.
He's not someone that can get deep though, unless there is a huge coverage breakdown. Debose is the only one on our roster that has that kind of talent, but sadly has never realized on an consistent basis.
That will change next year when we get some more speed on our roster at that position.

You would expect most quarterbacks to make that pass in their sleep. I'm not trashing Metinb..whatever. He probably hits that pass 9 out of 10 times. Unfortunately, the tenth time was in the fourth quarter of their bowl game.

I disagree. Even if two runs were stuffed they at least would have either taken a lot of time off the clock or forced Clemson to use two time outs, leaving them in a much worse position starting their final drive than Les gave them with his play calling. While a pass might have been a good idea for some teams, Miles should have known Metlenberger's (sp?) limitations and never put the game in his hands. Two runs were by far the smartest calls because they accomplish something either way, two passes were stupid.

The pass on First down was gutsy and caught Clemson napping. LSU needed to play the percentages and run on the next two downs. They pick up the first and the game is over.

Well, I know the mods are quick to ban rivals on this site, so I will bite my to tongue.
I hope all the Gator fans had a nice time in NOLA and I am looking forward to UF's return trip to Louisiana in October.

Hell, they are just as quick to ban Gator fans so at least they are consistent. As far as your timely thread bump? Yeah, we deserve it. We have some amazingly short-sighted and stupid fans.

You're wrong, mods are only quick to ban flamers. We have some rivals on this site that are respectful.

I sincerely hope that after that "embarassment to the conference" WE put up last night, we will no longer see completely asinine threads titled like this one, hammering someone else, especially a conference program (ie LSU, Bama vs Utah). Last night was the definition of an "embarassment", if you ask me. We let an outmanned, over matched collection of players who wouldn't for the most part, even be looked at by any "major" program, walk all over us. LSU played a vastly SUPERIOR team, than what we faced last night, and that game went down to the final seconds, unlike the one that was over after the first play from scrimmage last night in the Superdome.

Alabama did not lose to a "Big 12" school, they lost to an SEC-West opponent.

I wouldn't count on any sort of chastening effect. After nearly getting run out of the stadium, in 2007, by a team we belittled for more than a year - 'meatchicken' - I suggested that the board be shut down for a month.
Nope, it was business as usual the next day.

I won't defend our performance last night, but some of you act like you're not even familiar with the "flat bowl performance against a low-ranked boring opponent" phenomenon.
Yeah, college players should always be fired up to play no matter what. I know it; you know it; and blah, blah, blah knows it..... But, human nature is what it is.
Herbie was spot on with his comments last night that this is what happens when one team is fired up to play and the other team doesn't much see the point of the game. It's a big reason why many of us hated to see the match-up with Louisville from the start. We've seen this show many times before under many different coaches (and at many different schools FWIW).
