I made the same comment to my son last night. It's not the normal exuberance after a play or merely encouraging a teammate that's the problem. It's the strutting around. .
Some coach, maybe SOS, once said about individual celebration antics after a TD, act like you've been there before.
While the loss was not because of celebration antics per se, it does show a lack of discipline that can affect the outcome.

Yeah, Spurrier seemed completely upset the 50 times reidel did the "shotgun" and jack jackson did the "heart attack" after every score. Please. Selective memory at its finest.

Yeah that Swag looked real good when they were getting their tails kicked, that's alot to strut about. Look we are getting stomped out on 3rd down, but hey the play before we had a tackle, not a tackle for lose, just a tackle. Looking like a bunch of strutting peacocks. And no I couldn't stand that crap when we were winning either, its called sportsmanship, and respect for the opponent.

Look its basically 3 players. Elam, Floyd, and Easley have always been celebratory and vocal going back to highschool. Guys like Jenkins, Purifoy, and Bostic haven't been and never will be.
These guys have big alpha personalities. I for one will miss the hell out of those 3 studs.

it's kind of like standing up w/ your hands raised after getting your action kicked....it just doesn't make sense.

I have no problem with people that can stand it. I would have no problem with CWM telling everybody to stop at all times. Even though I think some players like Easley thrive off that kind of stuff. They were completing pass on 3rd downs not because of celebrations but because of bad gap control on pass rushing lanes, great QB play and most importantly we didn't have Jelani Jenkins out there. It has nothing to do with celebrations.

My dad used to say this to me (I don't know why; I was a lineman in HS), and he claimed to hear it from Tom Landry.

The seniors, team leaders and coaches did not do their jobs last night.

Lost some respect for Boom for letting it go on. It's embarrassing and disappointing to me. It's totally a "me first" mentality. There's not a poster here that is old enough that didn't rip UM and FSU for those same antics. It's called winning with CLASS and our Coach and team showed exactly NONE last night. Let's hope Jeremy Foley steps in and puts Boom in his place. Disgusting.

No need for him to do that. These players that have ya'll so upset and ruined your viewing experience last night won't be playing for Florida anymore. You won't have to see them play again. Well, unless you watch NFL highlights on Sunday next year.
Gotta ask though, why didn't you post this the about 12 weeks ago? They've been playing this way all year...

The NFL allows it because they can create individual superstars on the field. In college it should not be about me, me, me. It's about team and all that strutting is disrespectful, win or lose. Imagine if UL was doing that to us while kicking our teeth in. Total lacking of class and undisciplined. Control your emotions for the next play. Clap your hands or clap a teammate when you make a big play but to go on for 10 seconds after the play should have drawn a few flags from the refs. It was nothing but taunting.
I've been a Gator a long time and this was one of the worst years in that regard. I mentioned this in several game threads this year win or lose. You don't have to act like the 90's Miami team to win games. If that's what get's you up to win then you shouldn't be playing. Muschamp needs to get his team in check and teach them discipline in every facet of the game because last night showed a lack of it in every part of the game.

It was embarassing, and surprise surprise it was primarily by the kids who are leaving early...marketing themselves as best they can. The worst of all was the showboating after tackling the Louisville players after they made a 1st down, that was pathetic.

Again, I gots no problem with the swag. But swag ain't swag when you are getting dominated. It's bravado then. It's stupid. What's the thought there? I'm still shocked that some don't get the point I was trying to make in the original post. We were getting pounded. No need to celebrate a play when the body of work is complete shit!
Show that you care a little that you are getting pounded. Don't celebrate as if you are oblivious to the overall result.
I really don't know how to further explain it. One last try:
Our celebrations last night was Nero's fiddle. What was taking place over the whole game was Rome Burning.
Does that help???
