Every position should always be up for competition in the spring. But Driskel is currently the best quarterback on the roster. Brissett throws the ball as well as Driskel, but Driskel has a running game to go along with the mediocre passing. I just wish that Driskel would show some signs of progress.
Keep in mind that going into the off season last year I was a big fan of Brissett. In the opportunities he got last year I thought he was more poised and more comfortable. I was really hoping that he would ignite a quarterback controversy when he had a full game to himself against Jacksonville State. But he didn't. You have to be ready to take advantage of any opportunity you get. Be prepared. Brissett wasn't. Hopefully he, or Driskel, or Murphy, or the new kid (Staver?) will step up in spring practice. Driskel has all the tools, he just doesn't have the comfort level to apply them (or he just isn't good enough upstairs to do so).

I truly don't know what some people are looking at during games. Cheerleaders maybe?

I think a bigger question might be whether South Carolina sees its chance and takes it.
Georgia benefitted from a pathetic schedule this year and took advantage of it. South Carolina next year has the Gators and Clemson at home and that's about it. No Bammy, no LSU. Sure Arkansas but unless they make a huge turnaround...
Georgia away in their 2nd game will be interesting but you'd think if they pass that hurdle unscathed it will be hard to catch up... our 3 biggest games are all on the road!

I would give Max Staver a chance.

C'mon....This is the worst WR group we have seen here in 25 years.
Our top ball catcher is a converted QB.

Add Kevin Hogan of Stanford to those two. He started week 6...won a Rose Bowl.

Look JD was not good last night but if you rewatch the game it wouldn't have mattered who was playing QB because (not to put dirt on the grave) The OLINE WAS TERRIBLE!!!!

Tebow had an RAT of 120 in the Cap One bowl in the 2007 season, not terribly better than Driskel's 103, and certainly not Bridgewater's 147. I think missing Jelani's coverage abilities changed the whole complexion of the game on both sides of the ball... along with the questionable coaching decision to open up with passing when our running game has been so dominant. Whoever is to be the starting QB next year needs more experience, and splitting time and reps in competition doesn't help that.

Max is definitely a project. No way he'd be successful as a true freshmen. Wonder how Morningweg is. His dad was the OC of the eagles, so I got to imagine he knows a lot about the xs and os.
At this point, Im just not confident with Driskel. All the issues I had with him in the summer are still there. We will still win a lot of games, but like Muschamp said, we aren't back till we start winning chmpionshis again.

I'm pleased for him, I truly am. But I think selective picking people to prove a point is a back and forth. I'll try:
Did Tyler Bray make huge strides as a QB this year? How about Tyler Wilson? What about EJ Manuel... was he much improved this year? Maybe Logan Thomas of V-Tech? These were all highly touted QBs in the offseason and are more experienced than Driskel too...
See? I just really think we should be cutting him a little more slack, at least for one more year before we write him off as a lost cause. He has not been bad by any stretch this year. His Junior year will be far more revealing...

Ummm, all those are experienced QBs. We should be seeing improvement with a younger inexperienced QB. The reason the other QBs were compared to Driskel is that they came out of highschool the same year. Trying to show that a fifth year senior hasn't improved is disingenuous.

I have my doubts that Jeff will ever be anything other than an average passer. But he has to get better reading defenses.

I'm not at all worried about him throwing the ball. He can do that.

The drop off between Ball and Jelani was huge. I have been saying it for weeks that the biggest loss to the football team was not Elam Reed or Floyd but Jelani is he decided to go pro. People just dont realize how good he is in coverage

Yes. SOME guys were open last night. On occasion. As a whole this WR unit has been unable to get deep, separate, and does not come back for the ball when JD is scrambling.
There is no Jackson, Hill, Anthony, Hilliard, Caldwell, Harvin, Baker, Green, etc. on this team. We need a guy like that. This team has no NFL talent at WR. Not even close.
