Worst defensive performance since '95 Nebs loss
The Nebs loss was a lot worse but I can't think of another time when the Gator defense imploded so badly like they did last night. And watching Quinn call zone defense all night was mind numbing. Seemed like every play had a receiver running unimpeded behind the LB's.
With that said, I still anticipate a great future for this team. A lot of youth and some stellar recruiting should keep us at or near the top.

Just sayin. LSU ran and passed on us like we weren't there. Never felt that beaten since UT ran all over us in 2001. Guess in my mind, getting run over is worse than getting thrown over.

If we're talking bowl games, i think the loss to Michigan in 2007 was worse.

Relative to the competition, I'd say the OP may have a point. Young Teddy Bridgewater simply toyed with us. We're lucky the Big East team didn't hang 50 on us.

Our Dline played well and really showed their ability during the 4th quarter. That said, the DB's were off the ball all ight long but it was because Teddy spot passed to the open areas all night long and no half time changes were made.

Wow. I can think of some games right off the top of my head that were worse defensive performances than this even to teams we were supposed to beat. This is just the typical fan overreaction after a loss. What about the Michigan game following the 2007 season? We were supposed to win that game (10.5 point favorites) and the defense was shredded. Michigan scored 41 points even though they turned it over 4 times. Louisville scored 33. Michigan had 524 yards of offense. Louisville had 336. Michigan had a higher completion percentage than Louisville, ran for a higher yards per carry than Louisville, had a higher 3rd down conversion rate than Louisville, and Michigan totaled their second highest point total of the season against Florida while Louisville had their 6th highest point total against Florida. Michigan had a higher point total against Florida than they did against Eastern Michigan and Appalachian State. Michigan scored more points against Florida than it did against Oregon, Ohio State, and Penn state combined. In Michigan's game previous to playing Florida, they scored 3 points and had 91 yards of total offense. Yet hung 41 and 524 on the Gators respectively. I think this is enough to end any questions about if there has been a worse defensive game since the Nebraska debacle. What about Bama in 2009? We were supposed to win that one too. Bama scored one less point that Louisville but had more yards, a higher completion percentage, a higher ypc, a higher 3rd down rate and had twice as much time of possession as we had. Heck, I can throw in VANDY AT HOME in 2005! Vandy had more points and more yards than Louisville did. Vandy had a higher completion percentage, an higher ypc average and a higher 3rd down conversion rate than Louisville. Plus, it was VANDY who went 5-6 that year. There are many more.

I love you as a poster man, but you missed on this one. That's ok, overreaction happens to the best of us.

I remember. That was the year our defense got carved up - twice - by a defensive back playing quarterback. And were pummeled senseless by a coach we called 'Dumbbose.'
I see a pattern here: we seem to get our bare bottoms spanked, on a fairly regular basis, by teams, players and coaches we love to belittle.
Also: see 'Brock Berlin.'

2007 Michigan is close but that was a very young and inexperienced defense

Overall, I'm just so dissapointed in this team right now. That wasn't the UF team I love watching. I know it's tough to get motivated to play a Big East team in a prime time game, especially when some of the leaders (Elam and Floyd) have the draft on their minds, but the team still has to somehow play with intensity and prove that they love this game. Hopefully, we come out hungry next year and play to the level that I think we can. So I'm looking forward to next year and hoping things get better. Go Gators!!

Elam and floyd were the best players on the field for uf last night. I wish all of our team had their nfl future on their minds.

The coaches got out coached. If JD doesn't have a pick 6 and a fumble for another score, UF is in the game. Let's face it, the defense has had to bail out the offense most of the season. They were in some tough situations most of the night.
