You are truly dreaming. Did you know that the CBO scores the just passed tax cut extension (LOL) as adding 4 trillion to the national debt.
And you really think that Obama is going to have a fiscal conversion from profligate deficit spender to fiscal conservative deficit hawk.
I guess that 80 billion of new revenue from taxing the rich will just cover the 60 billion for hurricane Sandy.
You, sir, are a true believer.

It is only $45 B in year 1 and will add to the deficit with the Sandy bill.

At least Republicans are lovers, not fighters. Liberals are breathing threats about razing the NRA headquarters and saying stuff like "The only good Republican is a dead Republican."

The Republicans seem to be doing a fine job of self-immolation, no need for violence from the Democrats.

His solutions are not my solutions? Let see his solutions! He has yet proposed any real cuts, not just slowing the increase

Aren't you getting a little uppity here ? You're not supposed to understand the difference between a spending cut and just slowing the increase.

Congress is composed of the most incompetent, selfish and childish group of bufoons that I can ever recall. Anyone in private enterprise who was this incompetent, selfish and childish would have been terminated years ago. Not only that, but the enterprise they were in would have filed bankruptcy many years ago.

there you go. If you look at the 10s of millions of liberals in the country, maybe you can find a couple who said something as stupid as "The only good Republican ...." And then you can claim that's how liberals are!

Just calling a spade a spade and it's apparent how it's tolerated with the leadership. The leadership of the democratic party is the epitome of the base.

Affidavit: Man admits church shooting; says all liberals should die.
Perhaps inductive reasoning from the extremes and hasty generalizations isn't the way to go...

I know what you are talking about and I read how you were getting there. I'm suggesting that everyone has their demons and that making hasty generalizations that the demons represent the majority, irrespective of the group, is a rather poor choice of reasoning.

Geez river, are you going to tell me that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi don't say a lot of boneheaded things? What about all the lies Wasserman Schultz goes spewing on TV? I mean the list is endless.

Boneheaded is hardly the same as threatening to kill. And no side has a monopoly on boneheaded.

Don't see the US Treasury market drying up anytime soon.
And then guess what... unless you believe the global economy will never recover, then we'll pay down the debt through economic growth and that will be fostered through tax reform, entitlement reform, reduction in wasteful spending...
What do you mean we're not investing just spending?
Federal money directed into R&D, education, infrastructure, energy isn't investment?
|
of the hundreds of billions spent, less than 5% went into any sort of real infrastructure projects that might actually provide a return for the investment.
we already spend more than any other country per pupil on education. throwing money at it isn't investing in it, it is throwing money at it and that money is wasted. if you want to fix education, get unions out, get parents in. that doesn't cost money, it takes leadership and guts to do what is right in spite of vocal opposition and lazy, uninvolved parents.
investing in companies that go bankrupt and can't compete on a level playing field and feel good projects that do nothing to increase the productivity or efficiency of the private sector is wasted money. spending billions on solar companies, electric cars, cash for clunkers was a waste. if you actually did something useful with those billions like converting big rigs to nat gas and building nat gas fueling stations then you might be making an investment that will return something. as it is, the great majority of the money spent will never prodcue a return for the future generations that will have to pay it back.
bottom line, we are spending money on things to keep the masses placated while doing little to no real investing to make the country more competetive in the future.
